Philips Software Development Team Lead (m/f) - Web-based Medical Research Application in Aachen, Germany

Your challenge

In a highly dynamic customer environment characterized by a large variety of medical research fields and a wide range of associated technologies, you will take responsibility for design and implementation of the web-based software product as a full-stack developer.

Building on Philips proprietary medical software platform, you will drive enhanced user experience and functionalities addressing all levels from platform to our web-technology based frontend.

You will lead the realization of advanced interfaces and APIs to integrate a multitude of external software tools like machine learning frameworks and clinical study data management tools. Finally you contribute to developing and customizing innovative algorithms and solutions for dedicated clinical research tasks.

To address these challenges you are leading an international development team mainly located in Bangalore / India and Aachen / Germany. You will work on project management and team coordination- and building- activities.

You will be part of the management team and overall your responsibilities will cover from system design aspects to resource management, team- and resource- coordination to the synchronization of the development activities with the business needs.

An advantage would be if beside strong leadership skills you have the drive to still (actively) address the coding of the Software.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for design, implementation, test and maintenance of software modules with high quality

  • Front-end and web application development

  • Leading an international development team in Bangalore / India and Aachen / Germany

  • Being part of the management team and actively sync the development activities with the overall business activities

  • Resource coordination and allocation

  • Team building and coordination aspects

  • Data processing and data visualization with latest open source

  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into activities

  • Ensure well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices in Agile methodologies

  • Creating software system on Windows/Linux/Unix server environment including distributed systems, high volume data processing, machine learning, algorithm design, reporting, data visualization, etc.

  • Adhere to development processes including code reviews, design reviews and coding guidelines.

  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases

  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs

  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of software documentation

We are looking for

  • Master of Science in computer science or a related field or bachelor degree with relevant work experience

  • Proven experience as full stack developer. Experience as software architecture is beneficial

  • Proven programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS, ASP.NET, Javascript and C#

  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices, preferably proven working experience in web programming

  • Proven experiences in leading software development team(s). An advantage would be experiences with international teams including India.

  • Proven experience in team leading and building. An advantage would be experiences with international teams

  • Proven experiences in leading software projects

  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development

  • Good debug and problem solving mindset, hands-on experience with web debugging tools

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques

  • Excellent English language skills
