In this role, you have the opportunity to

You are responsible for

● Manage and provide insight into core product services to support company operations

● Work as part of the core DevOPs team to be a key role in day to day operations and larger projects

● Lead & Work very closely with Percona Remote DBA services

● Effectively manage the services in and around DB in the datacenter & cloud in a scalable and automated manner,

including but not limited to: DB platform, DB operations, DB tasks, DB components, and DB uptime

● Effectively support all operations around the DB product and platform in a quick, scalable, and automated manner (where possible) including but not limited to: releases, performance tuning, production stability, user management, and external team support

● Ensure maximum uptime of all DB components in all environments

● Be readily available to help or assist through any escalations, “spikes”, or issues

● Develop tools to help Wellcentive engineers & employees interact with various technologies

● Troubleshoot and diagnose issues within various environments quickly

● Scale and advance Wellcentive by using new technologies to be a leader in the industry

You are a part of

A team that will provide direct support with day-to-day database responsibilities, and should be able to help accelerate the technologies used at Philips Wellcentive and provide valuable insight from the position. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

● Strong fundamental understanding of Database principles, properties, and operations

● Ability to be readily available and operationally focused as needed

● Solid experience and/or passion for working with technology and adapting new evolving strategies

● Fundamental and strong understanding of servers, networking, and storage.

● Fundamental and strong understanding of Linux, sysadmin, and automation tools

● Experience and ability to write, modify, and tune scripts written in python, bash, perl

● Experience and ability to setup automated monitoring & alerting systems

● Experience managing large deployments of linux distributions

● Experience with the Percona toolset, zabbix, nagios, cacti, and newrelic

● Strong background in development processes

● Active listening and critical thinking skills

● Ability to assess and evaluate high pressure situations effectively

● Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately

● Ability to work in a fast pace environment and work under pressure

● Ability to understand complex technologies and how they fit together.

● Ability to communicate with multiple teams and vendors effectively

● Ability to pay attention to detail, learn, and apply new skills

● Ability to read and understand various programming languages

● Experience with MySQL or other Relational Database environments

Beneficial Attributes

● Experience with Cloudera, HortonWorks, hive, spark, yarn, hdfs, kafka, storm, hdfs

● Experience with Rabbit, jboss, queueing technology

● Experience with AWS or GCE

  • Collaborative infrastructure development and infrastructure testing to meet rapidly growing systems

  • Improve automated cloud configuration, deployments, monitoring, management and incident response

  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to improve infrastructure through automation

  • Build internal tools to demonstrate performance and operational efficiency

  • Work with other teams to resolve issues related to application configuration, deployment, or debugging

  • Provide system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Linux environment

  • Building internal platforms for use by internal teams to scale by automation

  • Strong in at least one (bash, perl, python)

  • Strong automation skills and ability to use and develop on at least one (Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet)

  • Strong in Docker and Docker clustering

  • Strong Troubleshooting skills

  • Strong with ELK

  • Strong with Linux (CentOS / RedHat)

  • Strong with monitoring & alerting

  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies

  • Ability to use source control (svn, git)

  • Ability to integrate Jenkins/Rundeck/Go with other tools

  • Experience leading a scrum team

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Maven, ant, java EE, jboss

  • CD/CI experience

  • Experience with AWS

  • Experience with scaling large systems
