Philips Principal Architect - EDGE Device in Bangalore, India

The project architect will be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of the edge device. The edge device can operate as an appliance or as a software only offering.

As a solution, the edge device will consider compute, storage, networking and virtualization layers over which a set of services and applications are delivered.

The applications and services can be harnessed from qualifying assets within HealthTech businesses and platforms or be newly developed. Workloads will be distributed across the device, edge and the cloud to meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

The project architect will need to work with the various HealthTech businesses, platforms, Chief Architect’s Office and 3rd party vendors in specifying the edge appliance and establishing a qualifying criteria for inclusion of existing assets and creation of new assets for the edge.

As project architect working with the Scaled Agile methodology, you will be responsible for its architectural runway, establishing the overall backlog with cross functional teams, supporting the scrum teams during grooming and subsequent execution. Further you will work with the system test team to establish both a qualifying criteria and overall test strategy for the edge device.

As project architect, you will work on the reference architecture and technology roadmap of the edge in close collaboration with the Chief Architect’s Office.

The role is based out of the Philips Innovation Campus, Bangalore.

· The edge project architect will be part of a geographically distributed team. This will need a global mindset and an ability to work with geographically distributed teams across time zones.

· The individual should have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Multiple communication touch points can be anticipated.

· Should be a team player working as part of cross functional teams composed of R&D, operations, service and field deployment

· Ability to appreciate multiple domains (within healthcare and wellness) and their overlaps

· Should be sensitive to cultural differences in globally spread teams

We are looking for

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering (computer science or equivalent) with 15+ years’ experience. The experience should include having worked recently in solutions that span both the premise and the cloud or in moving large scale applications towards the cloud.

· Architecting and designing solutions using SOA/Rest/Micro Service patterns. Establishing the system view.

· Work experience that spans a broad technology base that covers Windows, Linux and its associated middleware and popular programming languages

· Experience with the key concepts around virtualization, abstractions over an IaaS (such as cloud foundry) and the methods / techniques to deploy, monitoring & manage application and service life cycle in such environments will be a distinct advantage

· Experience with establishing system resources for an appliance in collaboration with 3rd party vendors for a given set of functional and non-functional requirements

· Experience from a regulated industry that carry stringent security and privacy needs will be an advantage

A new team, which will consist of a team of 20 passionate engineers who will be based out of PIC under different organizations within HI BG
