Cost and Value Engineering Expert Philips worldwide, covering the responsibility for the end-to-end process of creating/maintain the required master data till analyzing the margin of deals.

Each step in the order realization and customer delivery processes has a financial aspect which needs to be defined, maintained, documented and controlled

The business is in need for support in order to understand in a more efficient way deviations in cost of sales with particular focus on maintaining one source of truth and translating financial deviations into operational root causes and actions.

  • The Order Realization Process passes through quite a number of organizations and departments, which do not (yet) work seamlessly together. The Cost Engineer will need to bring these organizations and departments into a co-operation resulting in an aligned process. Management by influence will be required.

  • We have different ERP strategies, and their operational way of working is different but this must result in the same accounting & reporting quality

  • Given the emerging type of business local ways of working are popping up which are not in line with the standard process. Change Management and networking with different stakeholder is required to change the local ways of working in line with the standard.

You are responsible for

  • You maintain one source of truth for typical configurations, the related BOM and other manufacturing cost leading to the ‘Factory standard price’

  • You initiate improvement and optimization activities in close collaboration with your partners in innovation, procurement and operations through applying cost and value engineering levers.

  • You improve the competitiveness and profitability of products and services through cost analysis, design to value, modularization and standardization.

  • You are responsible for cost and value engineering projects, trainings and coaching.

  • You support the engineering and commodity teams to drive forward supplier productivity.

  • To further establish cost and value engineering as a key process in Philips you support businesses and collaborate across functions to realize improvement roadmaps.

  • Interact via Philips cost engineering network to share knowledge and best practices.

  • You identify best practices and promote active knowledge sharing in your / Philips network of cost and value engineers and through this improve our current working processes, methods, tools and standards.

  • The cost engineer role is part of the Order to Cash / Operations team that is responsible for order fulfillment.

  • The cost engineer will play a vital role in E2E initiatives and will work closely with different functions, like: development, service, marketing, sales, quality etc.

  • You will report directly to the Director Supply Chain and with a dotted line to the Finance business partner.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor/Master degree or equivalent by experience

  • 5+ years of work experience in a technology company (e.g. Consumer Electronics, Lighting, Healthcare, Automotive) in product innovation, research, procurement, production/manufacturing, product management/marketing or similar function

  • Experience in cost management, quality management and/or supply chain management

  • Experience to facilitate better decision making in product creation and procurement

  • A sound and practical capability to develop optimized systems (cost and value) and convince cross functional partners of the solution

  • Change agent; Initiates and leads change; ability to go through change

  • Strong English communication skills, ability to convince and to pitch/present your solution to project teams and management

  • Be able to build and maintain a strong network within different stakeholders. Strong ability to influence.

  • Project Management skills

  • Experience in complex matrix organizations

  • Ability to develop a helicopter approach, focus on end-to-end process.
