Your challenge

The Director Design Validation is responsible for the strategic direction, productivity, & regulatory compliance of four key business areas; Design Validation, Usability Engineering, Clinical Evaluations, & Instructions for Use. You are leading a high-performance, diverse team of 15 individuals overseeing the Design Validation activities throughout the Life Cycle of our IGT Systems Products.

You are part of the System Development Leadership Team together with 6 other key departments, responsible for ensuring timeliness & quality of bringing our products to Market.

Your responsibilities

As Director Design Validation your team provides the project teams with a complete package of Evidence ensuring our products meet the intended use & clinical user needs. Including clinical, technical, & workflow data for substantiation of clinical & performance claims. You will work cross-functionally with key stakeholders & partners from R&D, Regulatory, Marketing, & Clinical Science teams. To support definition & substantiation of strong claims to position our solutions in the market & improve the Usability of our products. You will ensure that this data is delivered on-time & the product submissions are first time right.

Key areas of responsibility:

Accountable for the departments planning & execution of all Design Validation activities,

  • On-time & to quality for both New Product Introduction Projects & Life Cycle Management teams

  • Maintenance of Evidence annual in line with the Defined Post-Market Surveillance & Clinical Follow-up ActivitiesAccountable for the Quality Management Procedures for the areas of business responsibilities (Design Validation, Usability, Clinical Evaluations, Instructions for Use)

  • Ensure all procedures are in compliance with the current Global Regulations

  • Deployment & training of all Quality Procedure across the IGT Systems Business

  • Lead & execute Continuous Improvement of Quality Management Procedures together stakeholdersResponsible for Department Staff

  • Resource management & allocation to all business activities (projects & improvements)

  • Talent Management; staffing, performance management, coaching

  • Motivation of the team, creating & maintaining an inspiring, respectful work environment

  • Competence Management in fields of Global Regulations (EU, USA, China, etc), & Clinical Applications of our ProductsResponsible for Relationship Management

Your team

You will be lead the Design Validation team within the R&D Organization of our Image Guided Therapy Systems Business within Philips Health. This Business Unit is responsible for marketing, development and manufacturing of X-ray systems in the area of cardiac or vascular medical diagnosis and intervention (e.g. balloon angioplasty and stent procedures). Customers are interventional specialists, in the cardiology and radiology domain operating in a wide variety of hospitals across the globe. The team you will lead is a high-performance, culturally diverse, team working in a dynamic environment & driving change in a large matrix organization. The team is approx. 15 persons working in the areas of Usability Engineering, Design Validation, Process Improvement and Instructions for Use.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master Degree in a relevant technical discipline with 7 years’ experience in the Medical Device Industry

  • Experienced people manager with ability to develop talent

  • Knowledge of relevant clinical areas

  • Experience working in a regulated and process-oriented environment

  • Experience in product development disciplines including; system design, requirements engineering and design validation

  • Results focused with agility to balance multiple assignment across a matrix organization
