Philips Internship: Data Extraction and Analysis (Thesis) in Best, Netherlands

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Define and create in one glance the essential information retrieved from multiple sources to make a business decision on the submitted change proposals for our X-Ray systems.

You are responsible for

  • Determine/Investigate which data elements of the various repositories are required based on stakeholder input (Project Managers, Line Managers, Configuration Management)

  • Develop a solution which extracts the content of the repositories in such a manner that in a simple overview the essential data can be shown.

  • Main activities/tasks:

  • Gather requirements from various stakeholders

  • Translate requirements into proposal for design

  • Understand stakeholder requirements

  • Conduct pilot and incorporate feedback

  • Demo to stakeholders

  • Support go-live

You are a part of

The Measurement & Analysis team, consisting of 7 persons. This team gives support to a R&D department of more than 300 persons by providing up-to-date Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reports and analysis in QlikView to enable business decision making.

We are looking for

Students currently studying towards their Bachelor/Master of Science (Applied Science included) in one of the following fields:

  • Business Informatics

  • Computer Sciences

  • IT

Furthermore we require you to:

  • Be fluent in oral and written English

  • Have some experience with database (SQL), scripting languages (ETL), C#, C++ Possess the ability to communicate abstract concepts

  • Good communication skills and ability and understanding to communicate with other functions

  • Competences: team player, analytical and conceptual thinker, methodical worker

Internship conditions:

  • Students on work placement or final-year study assignment are paid a work placement or final-year study assignment allowance.

  • A student on a work placement or final-year study assignment is paid an allowance towards rented accommodation, depending on his/her situation. This will be determined setting up the Intern Contract.

  • A student on work placement or final-year study assignment who can prove that he/she is not entitled to a student card for public transport (OV-studentenkaart) is paid an allowance to cover the cost of travel between home and the place of work in accordance with the Conditions of Employment Guideline.

  • The student is entitled to paid leave on the basis of 1 day per month.
