We transform pathology labs worldwide to a digital way of working with the aim to improve clinical and economic outcomes. We digitize tissue samples with ultrahigh resolution & speed resulting in massive amounts of image data, which we mine for insights through machine-learning based algorithms. The images and the results can be shared in real-time with pathologists at any location with the aim to facilitate faster and better informed diagnosis.

As a Health Economics/Market Access (HEMA) manager you are seeking solutions to provide the most efficient pathway to essential healthcare solutions to the patients’ needs. You will provide scientific sound evidence while maintaining integrity.

HEMA addresses in addition to the patients’ needs also the needs and requirements of payers in emerging markets. You should be able to contribute in discussions on value creation related to clinical as well as non-clinical topics.You closely collaborate with government agencies, healthcare decision makers, academics, and broad external stakeholder groups.

  • Portfolio team to ensure requirements are built-in to the value proposition and its execution generates lifecycle evidence of value and market access;

  • Product managers to ensure the requirements are understood and built-in to the product pipeline through the product roadmaps;

  • Clinical Affairs & development team to ensure market access requirements are correctly implemented into and executed through the validation projects.

Your responsibilities

As a HEMA manager you will support the business objectives and you are responsible for identifying market access requirements translating them into innovative services, product enhancements and strategies (incl. lifecycle) that enables market access and commercial success.

You will:

  • Drive development and execution of evidence strategies for key products and services to support global market access

  • Develop robust value propositions for products in the pipeline to meet the requirements of clinical and non-clinical external stakeholders

  • Develop value tools including value dossiers and economic models

  • Collaborate with clinical research in the design of clinical trials to support market access

  • Develop evidence and scientific publication

  • Collaborate closely with marketing and key markets to adapt and develop materials and services for economic stakeholders

We are looking for

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a HEMA related discipline is required;

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a highly regulated, commercial medical device, pharma or consulting business are required.

  • Understanding the health care system, reimbursement, market access conditions and health policy trends & evidence requirements in major global markets;

  • An entrepreneurial attitude;

  • A solution and result oriented person who is self-steering and can work independently;

  • Team player who is target and results-oriented with great stakeholder management skills;

  • Attention to detail and procedures even when under pressure;

  • You love to travel abroad (ca. 25% travel).

As a senior Manager Health Economics and Market Acces you have the reasoning why our customers need our Digital Pathology Suite.

Your challenge

The Sr. Manager Health Economics and Market Access for Digital Pathology develops and oversees health economic and market access strategies for Philips Digital Pathology solutions. The Sr. Manager works with cross-functional teams to execute these strategies, including marketing, sales, clinical affairs, and the Global HEMA team. He/she develops comprehensive health economic and market access analysis and recommendations to ensure product acceptance by key stakeholders, including pathology labs, healthcare systems and payers. This critical role serves as the internal expert on health economics and market access. He/she is someone that Digital Pathology management, sales and customers can rely on for timely and credible information and materials affecting solutions under development and currently on the market.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, clinical and regulatory affairs, Global HEMA team, and R&D to develop and implement successful health economic and market access strategies for Digital Pathology Solutions.

  • Collaborate with the HEOR organization and clinical affairs on trial design, protocols, to provide scientific sound outcomes related to economic value.

  • Understand and communicate to internal stakeholders and customers’ new payer and government policies that may affect market opportunities for Digital Pathology, and contribute to Philips external comments and stakeholder communications as necessary.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key internal and external financial stakeholders to raise awareness of products and positively influence adoption decisions.

  • Drive the development of dossiers and models as needed and appropriate.

  • Develop evidence, material and scientific publications for economic stakeholders

You collaborate with the Gobal HEOR team enabling to work closely together with the:

  • Portfolio team to ensure requirements are built-in to the value proposition and its execution generates lifecycle evidence of health economic value and market access;

  • Product managers to ensure the requirements are understood and built-in to the product pipeline through the product roadmaps;

  • Clinical Affairs & development team to ensure market access requirements are correctly implemented into and executed through the validation projects.

We are looking for

  • 5-7 years in a healthcare related field, with a significant portion of that time in a reimbursement or health economic role for a medical device or diagnostics company.

  • Knowledge of reimbursement and payment policies for clinical labs tests in key European markets, including Germany, France, and the U.K. Working knowledge of the Clinical Lab Fee Schedule the U.S. a plus.

  • Experience presenting healthcare economic and/or clinical outcomes research data and recommendations to payers or financial decision makers in labs or hospitals.

  • Experience in educating internal and external customers on reimbursement and health economic related issues.

  • Experience in leading projects with third-party consultants.

  • Strategic planning and project management.

  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.

  • Understands the purpose and use of tools such as literature review, burden of illness analysis and reimbursement assessment and strategy, and value dossiers for integration into product development and new product introduction processes.
