Your challenge

Cardiology is one of the four growth pillars of Philips. To accelerate our growth ambition of doubling our business by 2020, we are currently looking for a R&D Manager for our Cardiology Informatics (CI) business.

The R&D Manager has the primary responsibility to ensure the self-organizing, self-managing teams to achieve its goals, through continuous improvement and internalize Agile practices. To develop people, processes and way of working to achieve operational and functional excellence to deliver consistently and in the most efficient way. They do so by coaching, implementing and supporting Agile and Lean practices and identifying and removing impediments.

Your responsibilities

-Competency Development and general management of the team

-People development and management of the team

-Provide functional guidance to the scrum teams

-Responsible for high levels of employee engagement

-Sustainable, high performance, predictable & happy teams

-Responsible for talent management and retention

-Responsible for removing impediment for the progress of the teams across program increments

-Responsible for operational and functional excellence

-Act as a change agent

-Facilitates and supports Release planning events as applicable

-Responsible for process compliance, quality and regulatory aspects of the development

-High levels of stakeholder satisfaction

-Drive continuous improvement in the teams and the wider organization

-Measurable, continuously improving quality

-Helps the team meet their daily and iteration objectives

-Works to remove internal and external impediments in the Scrum team

-Collaborate with others in the Release Train for Solution Delivery

-Facilitates team level Risk Management Report of the progress of the Scrum Team with agreed KPI’s

-Create transparent Environment

-Awareness of scope of work

We are looking for

  • Solid experience in coaching and mentoring a team of 10-20 developers/testers

  • Experience in general management relating to teams and people – resource management, budget management, knowledge management

  • Good knowledge of Software/quality development and control methods

  • Demonstrable knowledge of multiple techniques under both Agile and Lean umbrellas

  • Good communication and documentation skills, ability to interact effectively with all levels of management

  • Fluent in English: speaking, reading, and writing. The team interacts with groups at other locations as The Netherlands, United States and India

  • High level of emotional intelligence

  • Proactive, independent, target oriented and self-motivated

  • Solid experience working within multi-national product development lifecycles is preferred

  • Related experience in a medical device or other regulated industry is preferred

  • Certified SAFe Agilist equivalent is preferred
