Philips Sr SW/System Verification Engineer in Bothell, Washington
The job involves:
• detailed device testing and troubleshooting to identify and document device performance issues
• developing additional tests and assessing completeness of testing for challenging firmware 'bugs' or bug fixes
• validation testing, serving as an experienced tester to 'shakedown,' and subsequently complete, test protocols
• reviewing data entry associated with ongoing testing, and recommending issues for closure or further analysis
• Delegating individual tasks as needed to achieve project milestones
The ideal candidate will have:
• 7+ years experience developing and testing embedded device SW. Experience should include development of test protocols, execution of tests, and issue tracking/management.
• 2+ years of experience in Issues Tracking and/or complaints handling process in a medical environment
• At least 3 years experience working with Medical devices. Experience with Class III or AEDs is preferred.
• Experienced using test equipment such as power supply, function generator, rhythm simulator
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

To join our Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) V&V team to support both new product development and sustaining.
You are responsible for
Supporting product and software verification through development, manufacturing and into continuation providing technical support and leadership on a cross-functional team
Define, document, and continuously improve validation tests including conducting peer reviews and maintaining traceability to requirements
Working closely with system engineers, software engineers and developers to drive design inputs and then participate in verifying design outputs
Participate in reviews of requirements, design documents, and test related artifacts
Mentor, coach, and provide work direction to other engineers, technicians and interns
Proactively own and drive process improvements
Perform work with little to no supervision as department subject-matter expert

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Minimum 8 years’ industry experience in product development environment required with a Bachelors in Computer Engineering or equivalent degree
Experience desired in a medical device or other regulated industry
Working knowledge of software development lifecycle required
Working with Standards like 13485, 14971, 62304 is preferred
Working knowledge of IEC 62304 for Software preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Proven ability to perform problem solving and troubleshooting required
Strong attention to detail required
Proficiency in using typical lab equipment required
Must be self-motivated and able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
Ability to work with minimal guidance to make decisions and report progress required
Demonstrated leadership role in product development environment including ability to provide guidance and direction to less experienced technical personnel required
Experience with requirements management, configuration management, issue tracking tools, etc. required
