Your Responsibilities

We are seeking an exceptional, motivated and experienced individual to lead in the expansion of our Clinical Informatics department for diagnosis and treatment selection, operations and quality management, workflow optimization and clinical validation of results.

You will participate in and lead various research-related activities around healthcare data analytics technologies for diagnostic and interventional cardiology, focusing on research, development and evaluation of first-of-kind algorithms and prototypes, with aim to help clinicians make better and informed decisions, improve patient care and clinical workflow and optimize clinical and operational outcomes. You will also be involved in data-driven service innovations, developing new service-oriented business innovation concepts and proof-points, to address needs in population healthcare.

As a Principal Scientist you will:

  • Contribute to the healthcare informatics strategy in the domains of cardiology informatics and population healthcare within Philips Research, balancing short, mid and long term clinical and market needs and technical possibilities;

  • Translate the strategy into a strong and coherent research portfolio, and manage the successful execution of that portfolio;

  • Develop and evaluate first-of-kind informatics solutions to provide clinical decision support, improve clinical workflow and care coordination, optimize patient outcomes and demonstrate cost-effectiveness and value;

  • Provide leadership in a team of research scientists and software engineers;

  • Interact with clinical customers to understand their unmet needs, share insights and best practices, and validate prototypes of solutions to assess their value in patient care;

  • Create partnerships with Philips businesses to deliver innovations in a timely and high-quality manner;

  • Establish and lead collaborative relationships with universities, scientific institutions, academic organizations and governmental resources to achieve the long team objectives within the global research program.

We are looking for the following requirements

The successful candidate will have proven expertise in developing and deploying healthcare informatics technologies in a broad range of real-world clinical situations (cardiology and population healthcare). The successful candidate brings/has:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Data Science, Statistics or related quantitative fields.

  • 10+ years of research and development experience on healthcare data analytics (clinical data, claim data, physician quality reports, and workflow data) with a track record of scientific achievements and commercial successes.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience of predictive modeling with large and complex healthcare datasets in a scalable architecture.

  • Excellent knowledge in multiple data analytics and visualization tools (R, Python, MATLAB, Tableau, AWS, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge on clinical cardiology workflows, healthcare information systems, interoperability, accreditations, quality assurance, care programs in hospitals and integrated delivery networks.

  • Effective in a large matrix organization to achieve strategic objectives and deliver impactful innovation to business.

  • Track of record in successfully leading multiple remote multidisciplinary teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with different stakeholders (including clinicians, business R&D managers, marketing managers).

  • First author publications in top data science journal/conference.

  • Strong knowledge and successful experiences on data-driven service (model) innovation.

The following skills and experience would be a plus:

  • Experience with data driven consulting projects with clients (on evaluation of clinical programs).

  • Successfully secure and manage public research funds on operational and outcome research.

  • Software prototyping and development experience in a clinically oriented research environment.

  • Understanding of the business and economic considerations associated with healthcare innovation.

  • New product development experience.

  • New business development experience.
