Philips Senior Director Innovation - Male Grooming in Drachten, Netherlands

You will be responsible for the definition of the Male Grooming innovation strategy and the flawless execution of the innovation roadmap, to achieve the short and long business ambitions. The roadmap covers front end innovation, advanced development and product realization.

You will be leading the Male Grooming innovation organization (of approximately 350 employees) via 12 direct reports. We are looking for a transformative leader, who will engage with senior stakeholders across our business and shape our culture to have an expanded appetite for risk and rapid experimentation.

You are responsible for

As Senior Director Innovation Lead Male Grooming, you will be:

  • Formulating the long term vision & define the Innovation Roadmap for Male Grooming together with senior stakeholders (Business Leads, sub-business Innovation Leads, Business Group Idea to market (I2M) lead and Marketing Leads);

  • Inspiring and contributing content-wise to cross-organizational strategy and project teams working on innovation themes and breakthroughs;

  • Member of the Male Grooming Management Team and collaborate with its members to determine team objectives, policies, processes and budgets on short and long term. You will be accountable that your team can meet their objectives;

  • Ensuring an engaged, innovative, and inspiring working environment in the department by motivating, challenging, and coaching the department 's employees towards growth;

  • Managing and optimizing the innovative climate, stimulating entrepreneurship and driving engagement;

  • Managing department capabilities to develop and maintain a long term view on the required competences and knowledge to introduce new technologies & innovation approaches (e.g. ensuring that there are adequate resources and tools at the proper time being responsible for technology and architecture);

  • Acting as a people and team manager (applying appropriate personnel management practices regarding recruitment and selection, staffing, remuneration, performance appraisals, training, and management development policies);

  • Establishing networks with relevant players (e.g. scientific relations outside of the department and with the business) on all topics. Actively using this network to obtain input on technological developments, identifying trends and opportunities.

You are a part of

You will join the Male Grooming business and be part of the Innovation team. You will be based in Drachten (northern part of the Netherlands) with frequent travel to the Headquarter (Amsterdam) and other (global) innovation sites.

Philips is the global leader in the Male Grooming segment with a healthy and growing business and ambitious future global plans. You will report into to the Business Leader Male Grooming and be working in a network of various stakeholders based in the Netherlands and in key overseas markets.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in a technical domain;

  • At least 12 years of industry experience in a related industry;

  • Proven affinity with managing innovation projects in a business environment, leading several professional teams of different technological areas;

  • Display strong market, content and technology knowledge, as recognized by the business;

  • Expert knowledge of product development for consumer propositions and//or medical consumer propositions;

  • Preferably experience in Design for Six Sigma and Lean Product Development;

  • Business Acumen and strong Business Partnering Skills;

  • Effective Communicator and relationship builder/ networker;

  • Willing to travel up to 25% (mainly to Asia, Europe and USA).
