Philips Concept Business Architect – Acute Care in Eindhoven, Netherlands


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Drive solution innovation from business perspective and guide the business into this next step. You will be the front runner to really shape the business. In this role you will have the opportunity to expand your network internal and external by partnering up with the business on a Global scale.

You are responsible for

  • Co-defining and updating the vision and innovation strategy within Acute Care research (covering high-acuity clinical (e.g. ICU), via low-acuity (e.g. General Ward), to post-discharge home settings) based on deep understanding of customer needs together with market forces and trends;

  • Translating strategic innovations into compelling business propositions taking into account technology readiness levels, consumer insights and market acceptance;

  • Building new service or product-service combinations for the HealthTech sector;

  • Evangelizing service innovation and co-creation business opportunities;

  • Proactively engaging (senior) executives to identify new service opportunities for Philips;

  • Guiding multi-disciplinary project teams (incl. senior stakeholders in the organization);

  • Actively coaching, managing and developing team members;

  • Facilitating strategy discussions in broader teams across businesses and functions;

  • Managing relationships with (senior) executives at Philips and with external parties;

  • Increasing the department’s and division’s strategic business awareness by leading people development, training plans and recruitment.

You will be working in the Patient Care & Measurements department which comprises 35-40 highly-skilled professionals. The focus of the group is to provide clinically relevant and business-compatible solutions for high- and low-acuity care settings, comprising vital signs monitoring, data-driven connected systems, all the way up to enabling services.

At the heart of our capabilities lie a mix of human physiology, electronic/systems design and clinical workflow which are being leveraged to develop integrated propositions from idea to concept and are also able to successfully transfer these. We to work, already at a very early stage, with our key businesses and also leverage our strong academic and clinical network.

The department is involved in early technology scouting up to first-of-a-kind product development for clinical and home healthcare settings. In all of these application domains, a trend towards increased awareness on (preventative) human health, unobtrusive (self-) diagnostics, and data flow challenges can be seen. The successful candidate will not only contribute, but also drive key assignments and strategic initiatives revolving around hospital data, from vital signs measurements up to, and including, enterprise-level data. He/she will have the opportunity to work in an environment where the future depends strongly on his/her individual capabilities.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • At least a master degree, preferably in Business Economics or comparable degrees with an excellent track record;

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience;

  • Experience and demonstrated success in driving Acute Care topics with a clear understanding of patient, care professional, and payer concerns across within the Acute Care setting of the health continuum;

  • Research and innovation mindset;

  • Understanding of services and product service combinations with the ability to do market research;

  • Able to drive a Philips Value Proposition House or similar process to gain customer insights and validate propositions; broad consulting experience is preferred;

  • Knowledge / working experience with high end architecture business modeling in an international environment;

  • Knowledge of the global medical IT market including the characteristics of the clinical domain, market segments, main trends and main competitors;

  • A natural leader with the ability to reduce complexity and the gift to tackle strategic challenges;

  • Deep knowledge of B2C as well as B2B high-tech industries;

  • Proven track record of creating significant impact in multinational organizations;

  • International business experience (experience in clinical high and low-acuity settings is a plus);

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal;

  • Willingness to travel (25%);
