Your responsibilities

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be leading a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled technical experts, beginning with project start-up until market introduction in an end-to-end approach. You will be responsible for advanced and complex innovative product development projects containing both hardware and software content, fully meeting the quality, performance, cost, and schedule expectations of the customer. Your responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the segment and account domain teams to define strategy, market approach and develop an attractive PInS proposition in order to acquire projects

  • Team-up with the Marketing and Sales group to win projects during the acquisition phase

  • Develop committed project management plans in consultation with customers and management, ensuring requirements and deliverables definition within the constraints of medical compliance if needed

  • Define necessary competences and team composition to fulfil the assignment, staffing the team to ensure the right mix of knowledge and experience

  • Arrange (where applicable) the outsourcing of design and manufacturing based on product specifications

  • Identify project risks and define risk reduction and mitigation plans

  • Monitor and control the work performed and the quality of the deliverables comprising required corrective actions and agreed changes

  • Manage the interests of all stakeholders, including the customer, senior management, suppliers, and the team, ensuring effective and timely communication with each

  • Manage the acceptance and the transfer of deliverables to the customer

  • Evaluate lessons learned and deploy agreed process improvements

  • Evaluate and share team members’ performance with their respective line managers; propose training and advice on career development as requested

  • Coach junior project managers and project leads, increasing their project management expertise

You’ll be part of Philips Innovation Services, an organization with more than 1,000 specialized technology experts, designers, project managers and consultants who have decades of experience in a wide variety of competencies and industries. Projects vary from managing internal Philips Healthtech related projects, to supporting major external companies in sectors such as semiconductors, manufacturing, and healthcare, to working with highly innovative start-ups.

The SPM group of Philips Innovation Services is a shared Project Management organization located on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The SPM group supports Philips Research, Philips Sectors, and strategic external customers in system development and integration activities throughout the world, and is certified for both ISO 9001 and ISO13485. Projects include a variety of activities including system architecture and integration, concept development, design of electro-magnetic actuators, acoustics, advanced control, dynamics and thermo-mechanical behavior for the high precision semiconductor and healthcare market.

You will report directly to the manager of the SPM group, and indirectly to the sponsor of your specific project.

We are looking for

  • Masters degree in mechanical, electrical, or software engineering, physics, or other technical discipline

  • PMI/PMP certified

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in mechatronic equipment R&D and new product development

  • Strong technical skills and demonstrated success in Project Management is a must, having led both small and large multi-disciplinary teams on highly complex projects with demanding technical specifications, timelines, and budgets

  • Affinity with innovative development projects, including the ability to manage the process from relatively vague requirements to a well-defined project with committed stakeholders

  • Experience with Outsourcing of Design and Manufacturing (ODM)

  • Relevant project experience in ISO13485 Medical Device directive and or FDA compliance (desired)

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and SAFe methodology (desired)

  • Experience in connected products, in particular in complex systems, digital, embedded software and connectivity (desired)

  • You are a team player, with excellent communication skills and a customer centric attitude

  • Travel to the customer’s site as needed for project definition and execution (approximately 25% of the time)
