Your challenge

The Senior Category Manager is a category/retail expert who turns data into compelling category stories that are delivered in an exciting and engaging manner to ultimately inspire action. They build strategic relationships with customers to ensure distribution and visibility targets are achieved and use digital insights to expand the Philips network in key customers. They combine market, shopper & consumer and digital insights to build range recommendations that deliver mutually beneficial growth for Philips and its retail partners and ensure that Philips are the preferred partner for any category based projects or advice.

The SCM possess a can do, positive attitude and has a proven track record of delivering results through others and as part of a team.

Your responsibilities

  • Delivering actionable insights that drives retailer and Philips strategy (Omni)

  • Range reviews (certain accounts) from creating the brief, managing the process, and reporting on outcome

  • Deliver against agreed distribution targets

  • Category story, updating as required to include latest insights & opportunities

  • Deep dives as required (inc QBR reviews) on market, retailers with insights and recommendations on growth opportunities & how to improve performance

  • High Focus Strategic Projects (Digital bias)

  • Using impartial category expertise to build senior relationships

Your team

This role forms part of the category management function who are tasked with working strategically with retailers to grow the categories we operate in.

This position will be based from our Guildford office however we operate an agile working environment in this office.

We are looking for

  • Compelling storyteller; able to enlighten and engage an audience to inspire action and drive change.

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Background in either marketing or sales role with proven track record of building relationships and leading projects.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, both internal and external

  • Deep understanding of digital marketing/sales

  • Retail expert with intimate understanding of how key retail levers can drive performance (Ranging, Merchandising, Promotion, Service, Pricing)

  • Managing multiple projects across multiple functions both internally and externally

  • Ability to turn data into meaningful insights

  • Overcomes adversity to deliver results

  • Ability to build and maintain retailer relationships at a senior level.

  • Proven influencing, relationship building and ownership skills

  • Deep understanding of digital, ideally acquired through previous online roles at a retailer.
