Philips Accounting Operations organization (AccOps) drives the core of the finance operations by focusing on 5 domains: Record to Report (RtR), Statutory (S&F), Order to Cash (OtC), Purchase to Pay process (PtP) and Indirect Tax harmonization and quality control. Within AccOps we manage and coordinate front office service delivery, ensure consistent implementation of global processes, and regional standardization across businesses by focusing on driving the right process quality metrics.

Indirect Tax Team Lead EMEA

The role we are currently seeking is part of the Indirect Tax team located in Łódź, Poland. Within this role you will have the freedom to take initiatives and to drive change. Are you a proactive ‘hands on’ type of person, who isn’t shy to propose and initiate continuous improvement in order to expand the level of control over the VAT/GST processes in EMEA? You might be the Indirect Tax Team Lead we are looking for!

Your challenge:

As Indirect Tax Team Lead EMEA, you will be part of Philips Accounting Operations (AccOps) Indirect Tax organization. You will be responsible for Indirect Tax coordination and compliance within organization; performing VAT activities required by corporate directives and policies and supporting internal/external audits.

As Indirect Tax Team Lead EMEA, you will be responsible for running the Indirect Tax CoE in EMEA which is responsible for VAT Compliance in EMEA. The role will have three components:

  • Operational Compliance for EMEA Indirect Tax;

  • Team Lead role for Indirect Tax CoE Team of 6 colleagues based out of Łódź;

  • Ensure implementation of Key Projects including IT, Harmonization and Standardization Projects, Lean Improvement Projects and other initiatives;

  • Serve as a Point of Contact for Indirect Tax EMEA with stakeholders including Country HoF, Other Process Leads in Accounting Ops, Group Tax and Other key stakeholders;

  • Ensure Internal Controls on Indirect Tax process in EMA is under adequate control;

  • Ensure good co-ordination with External Service Providers and also to ensure that the performance of these service providers is in line with expectations.

We are looking for people with:

  • A Bachelor degree in Finance or equivalent is required;

  • At least 8 years of progressive work experience in managing VAT compliance on a country level;

  • Up to standard knowledge of VAT directive;

  • SAP knowledge (FI, CO module) is as must;

  • Fluent communication skills in English (both oral and written) is required. Other European languages are welcome;

  • IFRS knowledge will be an asset;

  • Knowledge of/ expertise in internal controls, SOx, controlling, project management, administrative organization

  • Excellent understanding of business operations (supply chain process);

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize workload, multi-task is essential;

  • Effective in influencing and collaborating (courageous discussions) with colleagues from various disciplines and cultures;

  • Highly developed analytical capabilities, with a strong business and customer sense;

  • Effective listening and communication skills, highly developed interpersonal skills;

  • Proactive and hands on attitude, goal oriented and perseverant;

  • Able to drive change in processes to bring organizations in line with harmonized wow and or legal requirements;

  • Structured working style with eye for detail and hidden risks;

  • Team oriented and process driven.
