Philips Compliance Analyst in Murrysville, Pennsylvania

The Compliance Analyst (CA) will work closely with the Compliance Manager and Compliance Officer and will primarily assist the Respironics Compliance department in the continued implementation of a robust Compliance Program (“Compliance Program”). The duties of this position will focus on auditing, monitoring, and investigation of compliance issues. Additionally, the Compliance Analyst will assist the Compliance department in its mission to promote and enforce adherence to:

(1) Various laws and regulations specific to medical device companies (e.g., anti-kickback laws, false claims laws, sunshine laws).

(2) Various applicable codes of conduct such as the Respironics Code of Conduct and the AdvaMed Code of Ethics, and

(3) Respironics Policies, Procedures, and Working Instructions.

Respironics’ Compliance Program is a multi-faceted program that focuses on the following compliance areas: policies, procedures, education and training, contracting, auditing and monitoring, and reporting. The CA position works in conjunction with other members of the Compliance team on the successful implementation of all areas of the Compliance Program. Through auditing, monitoring, and reporting functions, the CA helps to align Respironics’ business operations with all applicable legal and ethical requirements relating to medical device manufacturers, including but not limited to laws governing the manufacture and sale of medical devices related to Respironics commercial, research, and educational activities.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Regularly work with members of the Respironics’ Compliance department in reviewing risk areas and providing recommendations to enhance the existing Compliance Program.

  • Perform duties such as auditing, monitoring, tracking, and database management as key functions of the position.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls designed to help prevent and/or detect significant issues or patterns of potential legal or ethical violations.

  • Develop, analyze and maintain monthly reports for compliance, in addition to any other reports as requested.

  • Organize and maintain an efficient electronic filing/records management system.

  • Obtain information for, document and track corrective action plans for compliance incidents.

  • Keep the department incident logs updated via spreadsheets and electronic tracking system.

  • Work with other departments to facilitate compliant documentation Required Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or 5 years’ experience in a compliance or auditing position with an advanced degree or professional certification in compliance.

  • Plus, a minimum of 3 years of experience working in healthcare compliance department or auditing in a healthcare setting. The following areas of experience are highly preferred :

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of effective corporate compliance programs

  • Experience working with a medical device or manufacturing company

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare fraud and abuse laws, with a focus on Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act

  • Strong knowledge of the AdvaMed Code of Ethics and/or the PhRMA Code on Interactions With Healthcare Professionals, and Sunshine Act

  • Strong knowledge of auditing practices

  • Strong knowledge of current standards and guidance concerning corporate compliance and ethics programs

  • Contract review and/or paralegal skills

  • SAP experience a plus Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge and experience with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint

  • Database development and management

  • Strong organizational, process, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience working in a project-focused work environment

  • The ability to facilitate clarity where ambiguity may exist in complex business situations
