Philips Bench Repair Technician - Medical Devices in Nashville, Tennessee

To have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field. Must work under immediate supervision during the extent of level 1 training. Will be trained and willing to diagnose malfunctions down to component level. The bench repair tech 1 will need to have entry level solder skills and be willing to train to increase their skills. The person must be detail-oriented and organized to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and to manage their time wisely. Team member will also support the NA Shared Tools operations when not completing repairs. This includes but is not limed to receiving tools, inspecting product, document creation, moving product inventory, taking customer support calls, shipping product. Must follow directions and show respect to others working around them.

75% of time spent on product repairs

25% of time spent on NA Shared Tools support

Educational Requirements:

AA Electronics or equivalent (High School Diploma with 3 years of experience and the ability to pass a basic electronics test).

Essential Functions:

Excellent communication skills with customers as well as other employees.

Familiarity with computer and having basic computer skills.

Must be able to stand for eight hours.

Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

Be able to work under pressure when required.

Flexible work schedule if workload calls for it


Work overtime when necessary and approved

Cross train and help others when needed.

Wear company provided attire including ESD footwear.

Apply electronic and technical skills to product repair, while engaging with internal customers and developing internal Philips programs. You are responsible for

  • Diagnosing technical issues and malfunctions to component level with specific SKUs

  • Repairing defined SKUs in timely manner

  • Board soldering where applicable

  • Tool program inspection, evaluation, testing and repair

  • Receiving of tools, inventory and management of process flow

  • Customer interaction, order placing via internet or phone

  • Shipping tools via multiple transportation methods

  • Troubleshooting issues, finding sound cost-effective solutions

  • Document creation for product within scope

  • Coordination with external vendors

You are a part of

Philips Customer Service organization, specifically North America Shared Tool operations. You will grow with the program and create daily impact on the organization and challenged to expand our reach as industry leaders

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • 2yr degree with Electronics Certification preferred,

  • High-School Diploma with 4+ of related experience

  • Ability to pass basic electronics exam

  • Understanding of electrical theory

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve simple electronic issues with minimal or no assistance

  • Customer interaction experience

  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation when needed
