They bring their skills to bear in defining, conducting, and translating people research for strategy, vision and innovation purposes. Core tasks are to identify people’s changing needs, decisions, behaviors, and underlying motivations; envision future wished experiences in a connected world; co-create with multiple stakeholders; enable design for culture and behavior change, and measure experience qualities to verify meaningful, desirable and successful innovations.

Research skills

You use research and analysis skills to derive clear insights and future directions that increase knowledge within your domain and support the creation of meaningful and innovative solutions:

  • You define the scope of people research expectations, focuses and hypotheses with multiple stakeholders to support strategic business purposes

  • You lead and execute research programs involving relevant stakeholders and experts and relevant methodologies to gain holistic understanding of multiple stakeholders' needs over time and across places, and ensure that the outcomes benefit (strategic) business decisions and design solutions

  • You lead and execute qualitative evaluations, confrontations, experience testing and evidence-based research to guarantee people's insights are being appropriately interpreted, translated and manifested in solutions

  • You’re able to combine quantitative and qualitative (data) analytics to consolidate insights into a holistic picture of multiple people perspectives

Coordination and facilitation skills

You co-ordinate and facilitate to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders for knowledge building and co-creation:

  • You co-ordinate all facets of multi-stakeholder contextual people research and expert studies from recruitment through to analysis, while leading the team (designers, marketers and researchers) in the field

  • You co-ordinate and facilitate domain knowledge building, synthesis and opportunity translation sessions (people insights and beyond) with stakeholders in the field as well as internal stakeholders across the value chain

  • You set up, co-ordinate, facilitate and innovate in co-creative ideation and open innovation amongst multiple stakeholders in the field and with internal stakeholders across the value chain

  • You set up, coordinate, facilitate and innovate in training modules for multiple stakeholders to increase and disseminate research and translation capabilities

Translation and transformation skills

You use translation and transformation skills to ensure that people insights support Philips’ business goals and are translated into meaningful and innovative solutions:

  • You define and create visual & verbal communication tools to support the understanding, assimilation and translation of people insights and are able to experiment with assimilation techniques

  • You create approaches and tools to support cross-disciplinary collaboration, integrating capabilities, views and methods to maximise the impact of people insights

  • You innovate in creative change management techniques and approaches to empower multiple stakeholders and disciplines to utilize, disseminate and deploy people-centric insights appropriately in the organization as well as supporting users' behavioural change when using new solutions

Communicating & influencing skills

You use appropriate and effective communicating & influencing skills to build relationships with teams and key decision makers and achieve the best solutions

  • You communicate ideas clearly and persuasively at an individual and group level. You direct team members and suppliers and are able to choose the right communication style or influencing tools

  • You build relationships and appropriately influence relevant internal teams and direct business contacts. You are able to develop stakeholder relationships and build networks to achieve short- and long-term goals

Your Profile:

  • Having a (combined) master degree in Strategic Design, Industrial Design, Social and Behaviour sciences, Psychology , or Data science

  • 6+ years’ work experience in areas focused on innovation, strategic design and healthcare context

  • With a people-focused mind-set and a strategic thinker

  • Recognized for your expertise and talent in a diverse set of research approaches like observational, online and social media-related and design research

  • Strong in combining quantitative and qualitative people knowledge analytics; predictive analytics; as well as creative research and translation tools

  • Affinity with qualitative collection and analytics tools, illustrator, InDesign, SPSS, programming languages, and movie-related storytelling

  • You are passionate about understanding people in a changing context to support future innovations
