Philips Senior Engineer, Process in Singapore, Singapore


You will be responsible for developing new coating processes (chemical mixing and spraying) and improving existing chemical processes. You will be part of the FCP (Function Creation Process) team in creating new functions/process and OG (Operation Group) in improving production process. You are required to use technical and analytical skills in problem solving and processing development.

Key Responsibilities

  • To keep up with current state of art knowledge on coating technologies

  • To assess potential new applications to cater for business needs, to lead process studies for new processes

  • Initiate, guard and steer the release of processes, specify equipment in cooperation with manufacturing, development and equipment engineers

  • Conduct Engineering trials and release process according to Process Release Procedure. Follow up and closure of issues from E-Trial and steer the development of quality plan for processes

  • Update and maintain documentation system (PFMEA, DFA, training manuals, etc)

  • Support satellite factories as Process specialist, in training, transfer of knowledge and problem solving

  • Support production quality issues, to analyze and solve issues.

  • Support cost down activities, new process development at supplier site and critical components release for in house production

  • Support operations by participating as leader/member in improvement activities

We are looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Chemical/Material Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience gained in process or equipment engineering and manufacturing with Home Appliances or Consumer Electronics industry, or in product design development in similar area.

  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.

  • Knowledge and experience of the following:

  • Polymer chemistry on coatings (e.g, sol gel, PTFE coatings)

  • Coating application methods (e.g, spraying, printing)

  • Preparation of lacquer and paste (e.g, chemical mixing)

  • Statistical engineering

  • Risk Management: FMEA, Aspect & Impact, Hazard Identification and Risk Control.
