Philips Sustaining Engineer in Suzhou, China


  • Ensure that existing mechanical designs can be capably manufactured within the supply base.

  • Redesign or improve existing designs to assist in supplier manufacturability, reduce cost, and improve quality.

  • Participate as part of a team and as an individual contributor on engineering feasibility.

  • Perform analyses and apply problem solving techniques in order to develop creative, innovative solutions or incorporate new technologies.

  • Interface with other engineering hardware teams as needed and work with groups outside of engineering including suppliers of materials, contractors, manufacturing, sourcing, quality and service in order to fulfill project needs.


  • BS in mechanical engineering

  • Fluent in oral and written English is a must

  • 5-10 years of relevant mechanical design experience, with exposure to medical or CT products beneficial.

  • Relevant experience in metal fabrication, including manufacturing methods in machining, casting, and sheet metal.

  • Relevant experience in plastics and polymers, including injection molding, casting, fiberglass also preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals.

  • Demonstrated experience as contributing or leading member of small scale design projects from concept thru integration and production release is required.

  • Experience with advanced 3D CAD modeling required; experience with UGS I-DEAS, or PRO-E preferred; experience in good drafting practices, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, tolerance calculations, and design for manufacturing methods; exposure to FEA or simulation analysis tools beneficial.

  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills as well as being a motivated team player.

  • International travel to Israel, Germany, Netherlands, China, or other locations is required. Travel is approximately 10%
