Mechanical Engineer

In this role, you have the opportunity to

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will create new medical gas sensor systems and products. After working on establishing requirements, you will utilize a combination of 2D drawings and 3D models to create product components, tooling and fixturing. You will assist in product failure analysis to create a safe, robust and cost-effective design. You will interact with suppliers and work with them to fabricating the components you've designed. You will verify and validate the designs by making and testing prototypes, and work with Manufacturing to deliver the components and product to mass production.

You are responsible for

Additionally your tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Conceiving, designing, developing, evaluating and implementing;

  • Creating and maintaining documentation for requirements, specifications, designs, test plans and test reports;

  • Creating documentation, including: component details, assembly details, incoming and finished inspection requirements, through the use of CAD as a design tool;

  • Designing machined parts, injection molded components, extruded tubing assemblies with a variety of polymer and thermoplastic resins and adhesives;

  • Planning and executing mechanical verification activities including design reviews and verification summaries, simulation, functional testing, failure analysis and ad hoc debugging;

  • Improving product quality and customer satisfaction through continuous product and process improvement while maintaining regulatory compliance;

  • Utilizing best practices in mechanical design analysis, modeling and tolerance analysis to produce a highly viable mechanical solution for micro-electronic, mechanical and optical components;

  • Keeping abreast of technical developments in own field through literature, technical contacts and industry competition.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering , Biomedical with a materials/mechanical focus or a related discipline

  • Ability to work independently given high-level direction

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • 3-D modeling in SolidWorks (preferred) or similar tool

  • Strong mechanical design and analysis skills, strong knowledge of tools such as MATLAB, FEA, SolidWorks packages.
