Your responsibilities

As a Procurement Engineer based in a manufacturing site, you represent procurement in the site management team and lead a team that delivers procurement support in the end2end value chain for that site. You work with a DfX mindset and make use of approaches like co-design or value engineering workshops. You ensure procurement related risks (cost, quality and availability) are controlled and mitigated, by bringing the relevant procurement colleagues in to the equation.

Another important responsibility is driving cost downs activities. You identify strategic cost reduction opportunities for products in the portfolio and for products in production. In new product development you drive savings in close cooperation with Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Development & Commodity Management. In this way you deliver a significant contribution to business cases and product roadmaps. To enable this, you understand cost drivers and the power of standardization.

Last but not least, you participate and drive DfX projects supporting business decisions in a convention based forum.

Philips has a highly international workforce in more than 100 countries. You will be part of the Philips Procurement team working for Personal Health.

You are directly responsible for leadership of a team of Procurement Engineers and Site Procurement Specialists located within the site.

The Procurement Engineer will be part of a small international and dedicated team. You will be based in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. You will report directly to the Procurement Engineering Business Partner. You will work closely with colleagues in marketing, innovation and commodity management.

We are looking for

  • Bachelor degree or above, major in a relevant technical discipline.

  • At least 10yrs work experience, Professional with a 5-7 years proven track record in procurement related functions in MNCs, experience in Automotive, Consumer Electronics is preferred.

  • Has experience in DfX, Value Engineering, LEAN or Six Sigma

  • Experience in New Product Introduction Process

  • Expert in initiating and driving cost down projects

  • Knowledge leader regarding costing toolset (Should Costing, NPV, TCO) in projects.

  • A team player who is both proactive and cooperative; easily gains trust and support of peers; encourages collaboration and challenges constructively

  • Team Leadership Experience Preferred

  • Can think strategically and is at the same time hands-on. Delivers results.

  • Understands and is able to challenge blue prints and specifications

  • Experience in international and multidisciplinary project teams is preferred

  • Good English and Chinese Language capability is a must.

  • Prepared to travel up to 10% of the time
