Philips Supply Planner in Alajuela, Costa Rica


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Carries out broad assignments involving the planning and procurement of important items, requiring extensive or specialized knowledge and experience. Generally obtains the necessary materials in the right quantities, at the right time, and at the right quality and price to meet objectives of the company. Ensure that planning and procurement activities are conducted and documented in accordance with GMP’s, FDA, ISO Requirements and Company Operating Procedures.

You are responsible for

  • Check requisitions for adequacy of specifications and approvals. Contact vendors, examine bids and make awards.

  • Develop sources of supply where vendors and preferred supplies are inadequate.

  • Negotiate contracts where losses occurring through errors in judgment would involve large dollar amounts.

  • Provide leadership in efforts to reduce total material and service costs.

  • Develop and maintain professional and cordial relationships with all suppliers.

  • Evaluate material requirements and purchase inventory necessary to meet demand.

  • Evaluate vendor performance against open purchase orders and notify suppliers of past due material.

  • Act as liaison between production departments, product engineering, and sales/marketing departments especially regarding new product development/introduction and engineering changes (ECO).

  • Utilizing reports generated through computerized inventory system, ensure that open purchase orders continue to meet changing delivery requirements.

  • As member of Materials and Purchasing team, may provide work leadership and/or training to others in organization.

  • Maintain current training records as required.

  • Ensure compliance to Worldwide Regulations and Quality Requirements procedures such as GMP, SOX, and ISO13485.

  • Maintain Purchasing procedures, logs, orders, and documentation as required.

  • Support supplier qualification and evaluation as required.

  • Manage end of life purchases for product lines supported.

  • Manage excess and obsolete materials based on new product introductions and engineering changes orders.

  • Plan materials in a timely manner and efficient manner to prevent production shortages and excess materials.

  • Attend regular sustaining, new product, and material review board meetings for product lines supported.

  • Review and approve engineering changes within Agile for products lines supported.

  • Elevate communication to manager regarding end of life purchases or material supply issues that may cause production stoppage.

  • Support subcontract and outsourcing efforts if required.

  • As necessary, performs other duties as required.

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.


  • A minimum of five (5) years related experience
