We deeply believe that change needs to be fun and inspiring to succeed in performance improvement. Why would you change otherwise? Therefore our role is to bring fun and inspiration to the team members on the Shop-floor, as well as to the executive managers. In driving the performance improvement and fostering honest dialogues between managers and professionals, we perform different roles. Therefore, we act as a guide, coach, analyst, trainer or change manager, depending on the demand. In all situations, we challenge and lead by example. We pro-actively ask our internal customers to provide us with feedback and rate our help with NPS.

The Lean Manager position reports to Head of Continuous improvement / Philips Excellence and is part of the Continuous improvement Team that is positioned within Philips Business Transformation. The Lean Manager will lead the LEAN team Finance, Legal, Group Security and Real Estate and provides support to the enabling functions in their transformation to a more effective and efficient organization which enables the businesses to add more value.

You are responsible for

  • Create a culture in which teams focus on the needs of the (internal) customer;

  • Focus on sustainable results, instead of short term wins;

  • Develop internal Lean capabilities at all levels within the organization;

  • Coach team members and management on the consistent Lean behaviors;

  • Challenge team members on their next step to take, not offer solutions;

  • Actively provide compliments and constructive feedback (tops and tips);

  • Support the team in achieving their target condition based on current condition and direction;

  • Encourage others to take the biggest small next steps (experiment).

You are a part of

The team currently consists of 6 Lean Experts, working from Amsterdam. Being part of the Lean team means to work together with authentic, enthusiastic, open and driven colleagues, striving to get sustainable impact. Besides, we constantly reflect on our way of working to continuously improve. In the Lean team, we support and encourage each other by sharing mistakes and learning from each other’s best practices. We have created a safe way of working together where we celebrate both successes and learnings and where everyone can be him/herself. We strongly believe in learning through self- reflection and showing vulnerable are key elements.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field;

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within Lean and you are Black Belt Certified;

  • Track record of successful application of Lean / Continuous improvement and the ability to connect at multiple levels of the organizations from Team members to Senior Managers;

  • Passionate about Lean and Continuous Improvement and willing to take action and think outside the box to make improving performances fun;

  • Ability to inspire and enthuse others and have a belief in the power of vulnerability;

  • You strive to work in a challenging, constantly changing environment and get energy from getting things done;

  • You are fluent in Business English.
