Philips CLC Financial Project Development Manager in Amsterdam, Netherlands


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Develop and execute (blended) financing solutions for large-scale primary healthcare-projects in developing African countries. You set up a strategy to structurally address funding resources and you lead the financial structuring of Philips Healthcare (PHC) opportunities.

As a Financial Project Development Manager (FPDM) you will engage at senior level within a broad range of key stakeholders including (impact) investors, banks, donors, private philanthropies, governments, etc.

You closely collaborate with the Community Life Center (CLC) Business Development Managers, Philips Capital, B2G, the CLC venture team and multiple support functions in -and outside Africa.

You are responsible for

  • Lead financial structuring of PHC opportunities to be able to access respective funding sources, like Philanthropy capital, social finance, impact investment (grant, debt, equity)

  • Support project team in building the business model / business case to ensure that finance/ funding aspects will be properly addressed and satisfy funders’ requirements

  • Contribute to concept notes and prepare pitch required to approach potential funders

  • Engage with key stakeholders around a specific project that are critical in structuring / arranging the financing (CLC team, broader Philips Capital team, legal, ...) and educate stakeholders and team around CLC funding

  • Engage with potential funders in close alignment with B2G and Philips Capital team

  • Define set strategy how to structurally approach social/impact investors and support in preparation of financing paragraph for deal board meetings where decisions

  • Follow all relevant business and Q&R policies and procedures and when requested participate in reviews and follow-up actions

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Degree level education or equivalent

  • +10 years’ work experience

  • Strong network in blended finance and broad experience in structuring blended project financing

  • Broad experience in dealing with third party funding& financing institutions including banks, multilateral financing institutions, donors, and other providers

  • Proven track record in arranging “social finance”, including blended finance

  • Experience in (primary) healthcare space

  • Good understanding of modelling (including NPV / IRR analysis for investments) and basic statistical analysis experience

  • Broad based experience in project evaluation, monitoring and management

  • Significant due diligence experience of financial contracts including equity type (including legal and fiscal aspects)

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English, additional language in particular French a plus
