You are responsible for
As Head of Innovation you are responsible for the end-to-end product innovation and development of female beauty products with a focus on the domains of hair removal and hair care. From initial idea, through pre-development, product development, industrialization up to post-market surveillance.
lead a team of multi-disciplinary professionals through a group of sub business innovation leaders and functional group leaders and PM (>80 people, over multiple locations).
define the most competitive innovation strategy
develop and maintain a strong roadmap that delivers the business growth
guide your team in translating the roadmap into projects
secure that the projects are delivered in time, within budget and on quality
drive resolution for all product related issues in the market
ensure that we co-develop and implement, together with regulatory and clinical colleagues, a strong and realistic regulatory and clinical plan for our medical market access related product portfolio (IPL)
drive Consumer Centric Innovation, product superiority and Open Innovation
integrate Philips-, partner and supplier functions and drive x-functional, x-site, x-partner and x-cultural collaboration
ensure that lean practices (visual daily-management, standardized tasks, ‘go-and-sees’ etc.) are established and maintained
inform all partners actively on the status of the projects and all technical issues
realize development of the domain competence in the Innovation Team
You are a part of
You will be part of the management team of Beauty, reporting to the Business Leader of Beauty and you will be part of the Personal Health Innovation Management Team. The Beauty innovation team consists of 3 directors of Innovation and more than 80 developers working on innovation, development as well as life cycle management (based on multiple locations in the world). The team daily interacts with marketing managers, Clinical and Regulatory experts, industrial designers, advanced manufacturing engineers, process engineers and 3rd parties.
You will be based in the Netherlands, and spend significant time in Amsterdam at our Philips Headquarters and at the Innovation Site Eindhoven at the heart of the Eindhoven High Tech Campus.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Biomechanics or Physics or a comparable field
At least 15 years of experience in product development, project management and development leadership roles
Proven experience of developing consumer related products from concept development to market launch with key involvement in the industrialization phase
Highly preferable to have experience in the medical device industry (FDA/EUMDR regulation)
Established eye for business
Strong people leadership skills that go beyond managing via direct hierarchy
Ability to inspire change and transform and being able to shape the broader organization for the future
Strong communicator and relationship-builder within multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
Knowledge of digital engagement approaches, awareness of how digital platforms can attract and retain their customers
Understanding of new sensor technology developments, miniaturization, battery trends
Understanding digital cloud platforms to allow on-board/cloud AI critical thinking
Up to date with new technologies like deep learning, machine learning and translation of these into small footprint designs
