Become Privacy Counsel, Compliance within Philips’ Legal Function. Philips' Legal Function spans a global network of some 170 professionals operating as one integrated, internal law firm for Philips' businesses worldwide, advising on all legal matters relevant to Philips’ business.

Philips is looking for a privacy counsel for its central Privacy Legal team, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The central Privacy Legal team is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of Philips’ privacy compliance program which is based on the Philips Binding Corporate Rules and local privacy legislation.

You will support the privacy compliance team and act as a privacy counsel responsible for centrally managing and providing specialized legal advice on several privacy compliance matters, such as personal data breaches, data subject requests, privacy due-diligence, privacy trainings, etc.

You are responsible for

-Managing and improving the central data subject request process

-Responding to data subject requests and other types of privacy-related inquiries

-Managing and improving the central personal data breach process

-Triaging potential privacy incidents and coordinating the personal data breach response plan until closure

-Providing specialized legal advise and support in the context of personal data breaches (e.g. this includes advising on notification obligations)

-Recognizing when issues (originating from data subjects requests or personal data breaches) are systemic and working with internal stakeholders or product teams to prevent them in the future

-Managing and improving the central privacy due diligence process

-Performing privacy due diligence assessments

-Managing and performing privacy compliance trainings

-Performing other privacy compliance matters, as relevant

-Providing privacy specialist legal advice and subject matter resources required to support Philips’ Privacy Legal team

Your team

You will be part of the central Privacy Legal team, located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. You will be working closely together with the other privacy counsels, privacy officers, as well as with other in-house Philips lawyers, Philips’ business partners and other relevant business stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

An experienced and fully qualified legal counsel with 5+ years’ experience in private practice or as in-house legal counsel in the field of privacy compliance, cybersecurity and law enforcement.

-A flexible and creative lawyer with an international orientation

-Familiarity with privacy related laws, including in the EU and U.S

-Fluency in Dutch, English and preferably one other language

-Proven experience in data protection and cybersecurity law

-Strong project management skills

-Affinity with innovation and technology

-Have a strongly developed business sense and a flexible way of working

-Have the ability to connect with people and function in multi-disciplinary teams

-Can take rational but bold decisions under time pressure and are comfortable with complicated privacy compliance matters;

-Have excellent communication and legal drafting skills

-Are able to deal with a high workload and determined to achieve high-quality business results
