Philips Product Security Engineer R&D (m/f) in Böblingen, Germany


Your Team

The broader R&D team consists of software engineers, test engineers and support specialists, all of them contributing to the solution portfolio. In this role you provide assistance to various different sub-teams and act as part of all of them.

In this role, you have the opportunity to

develop Patient Monitoring systems and solutions on embedded devices, as well as solutions based on Windows, Android and iOS. Design for Security is incorporated from the beginning.

In this role you will support the extended development team in all stages of the development, from consulting, encryption technologies, code review, security testing and report generation.

You are responsible for

  • The major tasks will include:

  • Drive security by design throughout the R&D community.

  • Bring design for security principles in all product development teams.

  • Stipulate secure designs, consult on coding aspects, perform design reviews

  • Design and execute black-box testing, create required process documentation

  • Work with Product Security and Quality offices on improving relevant security processes

  • You stay up to date with all design principles and challenges in product security and address them to all involved teams.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Academic degree in informatics (from University or University of applied sciences, bachelor or master) or equivalent qualification

  • 2-3+ years of practical experience in writing software in C++, C#, and Java

  • Solid understanding and experience in designing secure systems and mitigation techniques both in the field of embedded systems and distributed applications

  • Experience in security thread analysis and associated tools

  • Sound understanding of relevant Security Standards and Guidelines (PCI, ISO 27001, HIPAA, NIST / DoD Frameworks, …)

  • Ability to design and enhance product development processes in the area of product security and promote and review progress of the implementation

  • Consulting attitude, being a proven team player

  • Being self-driven, self-motivating; willingness to continuously learn

  • German fuent and English fluent in speaking and writing
