In this role you have the opportunity to:

Be part of Philips and their newly acquired Remote Diagnostic Technologies (RDT) business, a UK-based leading innovator of advanced solutions for the pre-hospital market providing monitoring, cardiac therapy and data management. RDT’s portfolio of comprehensive connected emergency care solutions will complement Philips’ Therapeutic Care business and strengthen its leadership position in the EUR 1.4 billion resuscitation and emergency care market. Moreover, RDT will strengthen Philips’ ability to innovate, drive digital transformation in healthcare, and enter new markets.

RDT was already a world leader in the area of remote vital signs monitoring. The company’s products are medical monitoring devices used in remote locations, including: Military, pre-hospital, aircraft/in-flight, yachts, and other. This job, within the technical team, is an engineering role to assist the company in its development of new products as well as working to maintain the design of the existing product line.

You are responsible for:

Investigating issues/bugs (both hardware and software) with returned devices passed to R&D from the QA department and liaising with the key stake holders to report on the status and findings of the investigation. Once a root cause is identified then generating corrective and preventative measures and once these are agreed running projects to implement the agreed changes.

  • Perform investigation of product complaints to ensure that complaints are assessed and investigated to root cause within RDT/Philips established time frames

  • Ensure accurate preliminary investigation reports are provided to engineering and manufacturing facilities in a timely manner

  • Ensure investigation reports are accurate, clear, and concise

  • Work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales, sourcing, quality, customer teams/organisations & RA to identify, design and manufacturing opportunities for improvement

  • Interact and successfully work with customers to define and resolve complex and non-standard issues

  • Work with Senior ME/EE Manager to escalate high priority issues as well as identified business risks to the appropriate management level

  • Create and implement corrective or preventative actions for faults identified

  • Run warranty focused cost reduction projects

You are a part of:

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • An Electronics degree from an accredited University

  • Strong working knowledge and experience of electronics and systems including software

  • Highly PC literate, experienced in Word/Excel etc

  • Strong analytical, test and hardware debugging skills

  • Demonstrable organizational and project management skills

  • Strong sense of customer focus. Able to resolve complex customer issues and requirements

  • Analytical ability sufficient to evaluate potential root causes at component level of both electrical and mechanical systems and subsystems and software applications

  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret technical and business documents e.g. regulatory documents, technical procedures etc

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
