You are responsible for

As a technical Department Manager, you drive the talent management, way of working and output of the team. You lead and develop the teams within the allocated budget, on time and with the highest level of quality. The work is based on a product and technology roadmap, covering studies, new product introductions, product maintenance activities and advanced field support.

  • Leading a software department of approximately 20 engineers located in Best;

  • Defining the group composition including required competencies, resources and skills;

  • Ensuring successful introduction and sustaining of high quality, manufacturable, serviceable, and reliable products;

  • Driving the technology roadmaps for the team;

  • Defining and managing process improvement activities;

  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders like suppliers and customers, and internal partners like Innovation, Operations, Customer Services, Procurement and Marketing.

You are a part of

In this software leadership role, you will lead the positioning software team, in total around 20 highly educated (Bachelor, Master, PhD) software designers. This team builds the application layer of the mechatronics software of our minimal invasive systems. You have a deep understanding of software development and high performance real time C++. We look for collaborative technical leaders that understand and have used model based development techniques.

The management team of the Mechatronics Development Cluster (MDC) of the Business Unit (BU) IGT Systems within Philips is your team. This BU is responsible for marketing, development and manufacturing of X-ray systems in the area of cardiac and vascular medical diagnosis and intervention (e.g. balloon angioplasty and stent procedures). Our customers are interventional specialists, in the cardiology and radiology domain operating in hospitals across the globe.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master degree in software engineering;

  • 3 years of experience in leading a team;

  • Experience in a medical regulated environment, testing and quality assurance gets you bonus points;

  • Experience in a mechatronics environment even more points;

  • Knowledge and experience of international standards (e.g. FDA regulatory, IEC 62304, IEC60601, ISO13485, ISO14971);

  • Abstract, analytical and creative thinker with helicopter view. You drive (out-of-the-box) solutions to complex problems in a demanding environment;

  • Is communicative in English, both in 1 on 1 as well as presenting to a broad variety of audience (including C-level);

  • Is a good listener, coaches and leads by example;

  • Has an improvement attitude, organizational talent and ready to take responsibility.
