You are responsible for

Philips IGT-Devices is looking for an experienced Digital Electronics Design Engineer to contribute as a member of the Advanced Development team for our intravascular imaging and functional measurement consoles. The console team is responsible for all enabling hardware in between the disposable catheter/wire on one hand and the output on the screen on the other hand. The Advanced Development team main goal is to de-risk technical designs in an early stage and demonstrate this with early prototypes prior to product development (PDLM).

The successful candidate will be an experienced Digital Electronics Design engineer who is able to deliver high quality designs within project timelines and considering the medical device compliance.

Working with a diverse team of highly capable engineers (software and hardware), the candidate must be able to create primarily the digital and mixed signal design in easy to maintain and extendible parts (components and parts), including FPGA, microcontroller, DSP and other processing elements. Given the close interaction with the analog and mixed signal frontend, knowledge of these domains is key to an optimal solution.

Your activities contain of setting up the design concept and requirements. You demonstrate the feasibility of your designs by prototyping and simulation. You verify that your design and implementation complies with the requirements and long-term architecture and that technical risks are mitigated. Your design output will be transferred to the Consoles R&D development team with which you will stay in close touch during Product Development to ensure a smooth transfer.

Digital Electrical Design:

  • Develop functional prototypes and devices (including design, documentation, testing, and rapid iteration). Lead design transfer activities from Advanced Development to Development.

  • Design, develop, modify and evaluate HS systems and components. Implement applicable international standards (IEC60601, IEC60950, ISO13485, ISO14971 …) to guarantee a safe use for our patients and users.

  • Write technical design support documentation, test protocols and reports for the verification, certification and design transfer from Advanced Development to Development

  • Build the electronics development plan as input for the project plan in corporation with the project manager. Drive the realization of this plan, by taking care that the planned deliverables are ready on time with the right quality.

  • Outsource activities and deliverables to external suppliers and partners. You specify the assignment and requirements. You guide and monitor the supplier during the development project and accept the deliverables on pre-defined acceptance criteria.

  • Identify, initiate and drive improvements within the electrical domain such as product, technical and process improvements.

This is part of Philip’s industry leading solutions to help clinicians to decide, guide, treat and confirm the right therapy for each patient in real-time during image-guided therapies (IGT). You will be part of an international team.

The advanced development activities are located in Best, The Netherlands, but alignment with the R&D consoles department in Rancho Cordova, California and other partners, like Philips Research.

As Digital electronics design engineer IGT-D, you will report into the Advanced Development Group Leader.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electronics/Electrical/embedded electronics.

  • Experience in the design and implementation of systems and experience in electrical subjects such as embedded electronics, EMC/EMI, thermal design, reliability, FMEA … of at least 5 years

  • Circuit Design with Analog and Digital components

  • Design and implementation of FPGA based HW design.

  • Has an End-to-end overall view with respect to manufacturability, serviceability, cost price,

  • Knowledge and understanding of other disciplines (software, mechanics) with which co-operation takes place.

  • Experience using circuit simulation software, schematic capture software, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators and other lab equipment. ORCAD, Spice, MultiSIM, and Eagle

  • The candidate must have strong problem solving skills, be a good communicator, and work independently or as part of a team to achieve project and business objectives. abstract, analytical and creative thinker with helicopter view.
