Philips Intern: Data Science (Education Proofpoints) in Best, Netherlands


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Improve the lives of many patients by making sure treatments are performed by well skilled and trained operators using the latest innovations.

IGT systems develops and manufactures image guided therapy systems to perform minimal invasive procedures in hybrid operating rooms, angiography and heart catheterization suites. Besides providing best in class Xray imaging we have developed several software applications which aim to improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness of specific therapies. Unleashing the full benefit of these applications requires training of the operators. Recently, we have started a service program providing unlimited access to education. Via our remote logging network we would like to proof that providing unlimited education will indeed increase utilization and adoption of our applications. It will be your assignment to refine the research question, automate the analysis of the logging and proof the impact of our Clinical Excellence education program.

You are responsible for

  • Understanding our remote logging system and building a model to extract the utilization of our advanced applications

  • Choosing the right package to analyze the data (eg Matlab, Excel,)

  • Test and validate your model and relate to our research question

  • Setup a study to proof the effect of our advanced education offering

  • Proper reporting and presenting of your findings

You are a part of

A close collaboration between the Clinical Science and Education and Service departments within Image Guided Therapy Systems. Image Guided Therapy Systems is the world leading business unit providing image guided therapy solutions in a broad spectrum of interventions (cardiology, vascular, oncology) and minimal invasive surgeries (orthopedics, thoracic). The departments collaborate cross functionally to provide world class solutions for patients, physicians and hospital administrators

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor or Masters level in Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or relevant other education.

  • Experience with office tools, databases and analysis tools (to be chosen)

  • Affinity with healthcare, science and business

  • Independent, curious, getting things done mentality and driven personality

  • Fluent in English

  • Available from November 2018 or no later than December 2018
