Philips Internship: Access control X-Ray Hall & X-Ray test system bay (suitable for thesis) in Best, Netherlands

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Finalize the performed investigation & implementation for the accessibility of our test environment (40 test labs) so that only personnel, who have granted access, can use our X-Ray system test equipment. This opportunity will require not only your IT skills, but will certainly improve your project management and leadership skills next to delivering a solution for our new test equipment hall. Next to that you can see and experience our art X-ray systems.

You are responsible for

  • Implement the test lab hardware for access control. It shall provide the essential information required for using the test system including permission control.

  • Finishing the software of the access control application; synchronize test lab allocation planning, usage instructions as well as blocking the test bay for unauthorized personnel.

  • Finish dashboard for administrators of access control application


  • Perform additional investigation to determine the hardware and software requirements

  • Implement the application on the hardware for permission as well as blocking the test lab for usage.

  • Define test allocation dashboard (User interface) and info display/tablet mounted on test lab wall

  • Extend test lab usage overview

  • Implement, test and validate the solution

  • Use Agile development method

  • Goal is to have an implemented tool for access control in the complete test lab environment.

  • The assignment will deliver a dashboard, which gives the user the opportunity to determine the impact on hardware and/or software changes on our installed base.

You are a part of

You will be part of the Business Unit Image Guided Therapy (IGT) systems within Philips Healthcare. This Business Unit is responsible for marketing, service, development and manufacturing of IGT systems used in the area of cardiac and vascular medical diagnosis and intervention. The customers are hospitals and their medical specialists. You are a team member in the test environment team that is responsible for installation and maintenance of test systems and test system infrastructure for new development and maintenance projects. The hardware and permission control will help the test environment team to improve planning, to avoid misuse by unauthorized personnel dashboards and actual usage report.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Currently studying towards your final year Bachelor/Master in the field of Embedded systems, Business Informatics, Computer Sciences, Engineering Software or ICT

  • Are fluent in oral and written English, Dutch is PLUS

  • Have experience with Service Oriented Architecture and Web API 2 framework

  • Have some experience with database (SQL), scripting languages (ETL), C#, C++ and Angular 5.

  • Possess the ability to communicate abstract concepts

  • Good communication skills and ability and understanding to communicate with other functions

  • Competences: team player, analytical and conceptual thinker, methodical worker

  • A Self-starter: Able to work independently and take initiative
