We challenge you to be the Business Partner - Procurement Engineering for our IGT Systems - Business; as the future focus of the BG goes beyond X-Ray, the former name of the iXR business is recently replaced by IGT Systems; you will be the Business Partner for IGT Systems, responsible for leading and managing all procurement engineering activities for this global business. In this leadership position you will play a crucial role, with your procurement Engineering organization, in the transformation process of bringing Procurement Engineering within this business to the next level. In close cooperation with the management teams you’ll focus on driving up value, bringing down costs and establishing strong Design for Excellence (DfX) convention capabilities within the business.

You are responsible for

As Procurement Engineering BP, you will be part of the Global Business Management Team and you will lead and manage all procurement engineering activities across the IGT Systems Business worldwide. You will be covering the end to end process, including Idea to Market, Market to Order, and Order to Cash. You are accountable for all Procurement KPI’s that are related to this business, such as BoM savings and the Global Supplier Rating System (GSRS). You will have a global scope, influencing more than $ 200 million spend and the related risk for this product portfolio. You will have a particular understanding of the product context ‘End to End’ in a business and deliver the business strategy, including the strategic cost management vision to the commodities. The business partner owns the DfX concept and competence and ensures alignment with all other functional disciplines, market stakeholders and relevant other business entities to make this happen. Summarizing, as the Business Partner Procurement Engineering, your key areas of responsibility are to:

Procurement Strategy and Business Partnership

  • Define and drive procurement strategies that meet the business and product portfolio needs, by participating on the Management Team of this Business and by consolidating and defining the requirements for the procurement strategy.

  • Act as a business partner by demonstrating leadership and vision to support the organizational objectives in the global business.

  • Define and establish the medium term (3-5 year) procurement strategy for IGT Systems.

  • Lead all Procurement Engineering activity and lead the transformation needed to deliver and meet related procurement and people / culture objectives and KPIs.

  • Ensure that the Procurement Engineering related risks are controlled and mitigated.

  • Manage the product context within procurement via the DfX concept, by interfacing with and coordinating all relevant functional disciplines and aligning the stakeholders across the Philips organization and partner ecosystem.

  • Ensures development of cost & quality roadmaps & linkage to margin management.

  • Manages development of Target Cost model of products.

  • Act as interface to the Commodity Cluster Leaders.

Team leadership

  • Build, coach and lead a performance-oriented team and build the relevant procurement engineering capabilities within the team.

  • Talent management: recruit, retain and manage talented individuals in a global environment.

DfX concept

  • Own the DfX concept in order to ensure that the relevant spend volume in the IGT Systems business will be managed through the DfX concept.

  • Deliver value engineering / DfX and supply chain optimization in order to achieve product cost reduction.

  • Secures S&OP linkage to component availability.

  • Manages standardization & complexity reduction (concept improvement).

Supplier Management

  • Define the procurement requirements and business drivers for supply strategy for in/outsourcing and components in x-fctl collaboration.

  • Build and secure manufacturing capabilities and capacity at 3rd parties.

  • Align Product and technology roadmaps with suppliers.

  • Ensures early supplier involvement in Product Design Process.

  • Manages the link between the new product introduction process with supplier selection.

You are part of

The Procurement Engineering Business Partner is member of the management team of the business and ensures that all the business leaders can access all Procurement activities, including Commodity Management teams. As the Procurement Engineering Business Partner, you will report directly into the Head of the Procurement Engineering team of Philips Health Systems. Your team (around 18 people) will mainly consist of (Senior) Buyers and Procurement Engineers. The position is based in Best/Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where the MT as well as the team are located. Travel on a regular base (20%), mainly in Europe, is required.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • We are looking for an international executive leader with:

  • Considerable success and demonstrated experience (8-10 years) in Procurement, BPO, R&D, product development and / or Supply Chain / Operations, preferably in the Healthcare Technology industry, but in any case in a regulation qualification industry.

  • Proven track record in building and developing win-win partnerships with suppliers (early supplier involvement) and a strong understanding of suppliers, business models, key drivers, measures and priorities.

  • Current expertise in the DfX, DFSS, DMAIC, Six Sigma, and/or Lean methodologies and expertise in applying Value Engineering processes.

  • Full awareness of applying cost models.

  • Working experience in a multinational, quickly transforming environment; comfort working in large, global, matrix organizations and driving decision making in such a fast-paced international environment. The person will be comfortable with diverse teams and should be culturally attuned to succeeding in a complex global environment.

  • Inspiring stakeholder management and leadership skills that influence, motivate and engage colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders; ability to drive change and promote a sense of urgency at all levels internally as well as externally.

  • Transformation skills, able to lead change in Procurement strategy and process. This includes the ability to adapt to altering situations, to drive changes across all functional areas, especially working and bonding with the R&D community.

  • Ability to critically look at product attributes from a value to the consumer perspective, as well as from a technology and supplier viewpoint, and integrate these perspectives into a coherent procurement strategy by product and for the Sector as a whole.

  • A strategic mindset but at the same time “hands-on” with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment in a structured way; track record of delivering tangible and value added business impact – great at execution: results-driven, detail-oriented, organized self-starter. • A global mindset, feeling at home doing global business across Europe, the Americas and Asia. • A University/Master’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
