Philips Study/subsystem and Validation Leader in Best, Netherlands


In this role, you have the opportunity to

hold 2 pivotal roles in our Eclipse New Business venture. You will be responsible for new function and workflow development and will lead, or be a member of, the study or design team charged with the development of new FORS-based propositions. In addition, you will be the usability & (pre-) clinical design validation lead across all activities charged with maintenance and development of future releases. You will operate on the interface between the clinical and R&D functions.

You are responsible for

  • Study/subsystem leader:

  • Leading the generation of new clinical workflows or use scenarios and translation of user requirements into product or user interface requirements/design. This includes the organization of user feedback and (providing inputs to) iterative product development, understanding and communicating consequences of the feedback to both sides of the clinical/R&D interface.

  • Lead, or contribute to, the development of technical concepts or designs with significant user interface aspects.

  • Validation lead

  • Creating design validation strategies and plans; choosing the optimal pathways to mitigate design use or validation risks. Consequently, you will create a pull for testable (sub)systems.

  • Contributing / leading user manual generation and communication with relevant suppliers.

  • Draws up personal / team schedule and reports progress in a structured and methodical way.

  • Ensuring solid, up-to-date and usable, documentation capturing use(r) requirements, design or design validation; using methods & tools for a structured approach.

  • Contribute to the generation of innovation strategies and roadmaps by generating initiatives that have potential to contribute significant value to the business.

You are a part of

the Image Guided Therapy (IGT) business cluster within Philips, spanning the interventional X-ray / in-body devices businesses (a.o. the acquired Volcano, Spectranetics and EPD businesses). The overall purpose of IGT is to create a clinical solutions business, changing the way Philips interacts with our customers and portfolio.

The Eclipse venture is a multidisciplinary team within the IGT, focusing on procedure innovation and new business model development in the cardio-vascular domain, by creating novel solutions to navigate and position minimally-invasive devices based on Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology.

You will report to the R&D / Program manager with a strong functional relation to both the Test & Release Architect and Principal Architect of the venture.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • MSc or PhD in a technical or clinical discipline

  • Capability and experience to develop clinical workflow / use scenarios and translation of user requirements into product requirements / design through user interaction and iterative development

  • Capability and experience to set up and lead execution of (outsourced) design validation strategies and plans

  • Basic team lead or project management skills

  • Knowledge of medical device and usability engineering standards and experience with (medical) product development projects, use-related risk management is considered a plus

  • Experience with the clinical practice in the minimally invasive (cardio)vascular interventional space is considered a plus

  • Result driven, pro-active and self-propelling with a hands-on/getting things done mentality

  • Passionate personality with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
