The System Architect defines the design of a system or system function – in such a way that future product options and features can be realized without or minimizing negative effects for the earlier system or system function.

The key area of responsibilities:

  • The System Architect leads the requirements and risk management of a system or system function

  • Elicits and analyses the stakeholder requirements in line with their user needs

  • Prepares proposals and alternatives for discussion with major stakeholders.

  • Specifies the requirements of a product release, which serves as contract for the project’s WHAT will be delivered, with focus on ‘good-is-good-enough’

  • Manages safety, privacy, and security risks for the system or system function in question

  • Leads the overall design and integration for a system or system function in a project aligned with the product architecture as defined and owned by the product owners.

  • Leads the design to the level that it can be realized by mono-disciplinary project teams,

  • Defines the technical concept, maps dependencies, and implements the constraints that originate from legacy, regulatory and relevant cross functional areas

  • Discusses, deploys and attunes solutions with the project (core) team members

  • Determines and manages the external and internal interfaces framework in cooperation with all interface stakeholders

  • Leads solutions when issues are found during implementation, integration & test

  • Can have following additional specific roles:

  • Technical lead

  • Represents R&D in the project core team

  • Leads R&D team with support from (assistant) project manager to manage resource allocation, planning and budget

  • Delegates system function design and deliverables to (system) designers and product designers

  • Safeguards scope of the project assignment

  • Leads the integration (definition, maintenance, and execution of the Master Integration Diagram) in close cooperation with:

  • Verification lead who drives the execution of the Master Integration Diagram

  • Validation lead to enable early validation

  • and Engineering lead(s) who are accountable for execution of component/feature development (incl. test) and system stream integration

  • Topic owner

  • Supports process owner for a specific process by:

  • Supporting projects as expert

  • Safeguarding consistency (reviewing)

  • Supporting improvements and audits

  • Requirements owner

  • Responsible for one or more SRS’s and UIDS’s; ensures alignment with all relevant stakeholders

  • Responsible for team priority setting (new features, improvements, engineering issues) within the boundaries of the assignment from the programming team

  • Verify implementation on application (system) level, and ensure testability of the application

  • Product owner

  • Acts as product owner for a specific part of the product (see Product Designer KAR)

  • Monitors and manages that the design is understood, deployed, and used / implemented correctly by the project team

  • Supports Integral and/or R&D Project Manager with planning and budget

  • Estimates own and team work and defines worked-out scenarios to optimize a plan

  • Obtains and maintains internal and external network for knowledge build-up.

  • Leading the requirements and risk management of the system managing the input from a broad variety of stakeholders both internally and externally;

  • defining the technical concept, mapping dependencies, and implementing the constraints that originate from legacy, regulatory and relevant cross functional areas aligned with the product architecture ;

  • Leading of a couple of software development teams on technical integration as well as on resources, planning and budget;

  • Supporting clinical scientist/specialists in defining and executing comprehensive and complete clinical studies based on risk management, clinical and regulatory requirements;

  • Enabling & support the quality processes related to medical device development;

  • Supporting the team with activities such as priority setting and elaborating user stories.

IGT Systems is looking for a System Arhitect for Azurion and Allura products. You will be part of a small team of 3 to 6 people within large projects (> 100 engineers) who are responsible for the overall design of the products.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Knowledge:

  • Has an in depth understanding of a particular product or complex product functions

  • Has an in depth understanding of the involved key technologies

  • Technical skills and experience

  • Specifies and creates the overall design for important products or complex product functions

  • University education in technical engineering as SW, Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, etc. or equivalent level by experience

  • Several years of experience as HW/SW designer of the relevant application area.

  • Experienced in technical leadership.

  • In-dept understanding of design methods

  • In-dept understanding of the application area.

  • Understanding of the related business disciplines, like application, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.

  • Regulatory knowledge/ implementation of Healthcare standards

  • Personal skills:

  • Knows how to engage technical people in coming to the proposed solution

  • Lateral thinker with helicopter view, capable of finding appropriate solutions covering the implications in other disciplines

  • Good listener

  • Coaching capabilities

  • Improvement attitude

  • Good stakeholder management
