Philips Architect, Electrical Engineer in Bothell, Washington

In this role, you have the opportunity to:

Architect next generation and existing designs of sophisticated defibrillation medical equipment and subsystems - in such a way that future product options and features can be realized with acceptable effects for the earlier products.

You are responsible for:

  • Owner of the technical vision of the next generation of defibrillator products and technologies.

  • Works in conjunction with Product Marketing to make trade-offs between attributes of the next generation platforms and products.

  • Develops the technology roadmap to optimize the path between current products and future products.

  • Creating robust, reliable electrical system designs for defibrillation therapy equipment with complex electro-mechanical, user interface, patient-response control, fault tolerance and regulatory requirements.

  • Platform level system design, decisions, and documentation.

  • Engages with Program Management to plan and establish project timelines.

  • Owns Risk Management for the product in conjunction with the other Functional Architects.

  • Balances trade-offs between complex implementations and requirements to optimize the solution.

  • Support and mentoring of other engineers in the design and architecture planning.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • The ability to efficiently analyze and resolve complex technical issues and evaluate trade-offs to resolve technical problems and achieve overall project objectives

  • The ability to meet project commitments (schedule, cost, and project goals)

  • A history of robust, reliable and innovative designs

  • A history of cooperation and technical leadership

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple project assignments.

  • Minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design, with demonstrated success carrying projects through to a robust, verified, producible design and volume production.

  • 10+ years of experience designing electro-mechanical systems.

  • Strong experience with System Architecture design.

  • Demonstrable experience with high voltage systems, sensitive measurement circuits, embedded software development.

  • Previous design experience in a regulated environment (preferably medical device industry)

Other Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years Defibrillator design and development

  • 5+ years developing patient connected circuits (ECG, Sp02, C02, etc.)

  • Signal Acquisition/DSP design and development (Filter design)

  • Embedded Software development using IEC62304

  • EMC Design

  • Manufacturing experience is a plus

  • Quality Assurance experience is a plus
