Philips Global Lead - AI Scientist in Connected Care in Cambridge, Massachusetts

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Create new value and deliver impact through meaningful innovations and intellectual properties that contribute to Philips growth. You will shape the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning roadmaps together with Research Management and the Businesses. As a core focus you will captain Philips Connected Care AI excellence, competency and strategies for both new and existing ones, which have high value to the business. You will coach & develop less experienced researchers on the team and represent Philips (Research) internally and externally.

You are responsible for

Initiating and driving innovation roadmaps and research as a thought leader in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Connected Care to enable meaningful innovations resulting in maximum business impact and Philips growth. As a key thought leader, the A.I. Fellow will be responsible for helping to further develop the A.I. competency pillars across Philips Research joining a worldwide A.I. Center of Expertise focused on various aspects of the space. The AI Fellow Connected Care will help shape our approach to the next generation of connected systems of engagement that will build upon our current HealthIT infrastructure to enhance workflow and address the quadruple aim of improving outcomes, improving patient and clinician satisfaction and reducing cost.

In addition the A.I. Fellow will be recognized externally and internally as an authority and thought leader in Machine learning and A.I and will provide forward looking insights into the technical, application, market, competition and societal developments in A.I./ML for our Philips Research teams.

The A.I. Fellow will:

  • Supporting Philips/IP&S in driving IP strategies across the A.I. domain with particular focus on Connected Care.

  • Authoring invention disclosures and support others in writing them.

  • You will perform deep dives and prepares white papers/Innovation Briefs.

  • Act as a consultant for our businesses and research programs.

  • Maintain and actively build your active internal and external network.

  • You will act as an ambassador for all of Philips Research towards the business and for Philips towards the outside world.

  • Work with our HR team to build and shapes the A.I/ML competency strategy across Philips Research based on internal and external trends.

  • Help to further refine our strategy on the use of data to improve care and outcomes,

  • Help to refine our strategy in the development of systems providing dynamic workflow

  • Apply your passion to develop new and advanced methods of representation of medical information such as the Medical Digital Twin

  • Work with our Chief Architect’s office to optimally demonstrate our reference architectures and key platform modules

  • Work closely with our A.I. Center of Excellence and participate in our A.I. Working Groups, in particular for Connected Care

  • Apply A.I. Business insights to help drive programs and projects to deliver business impact.

You are a part of

A network of key thought leaders, the A.I. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A PhD preferably an advanced clinical degree in relevant area (related to Connected Care)

  • 15+ years’ experience working in Research / R&D Engineering environments

  • Minimum 10 plus years’ experience in AI/ML , with a supporting track record leading AI initiatives in Research or Research and Development

  • Dynamic workflow ability - using AI to develop systems that adapt to the needs of quickly changing environments. Task optimization and reporting

  • Symptom interpretation and analysis : IE: how to make Bayesian network models based on symptoms and literature, make them flexible, work with partners and startups in this to leverage, translate to specific diseases

  • Proven AI Engagement - Driving human-computer interactions through AI powered UI’s and creating models for human-like interaction between humans and computers.

  • Ability to identify the need for changing the competency profile: drive change in the organization to learn and “unlearn” competencies

  • Academia or Industry experience developing solutions in Connected Care within the fields of; medical, device, health research ( or similar domain)

  • Consistent track record in relevant competency domain and innovation area in industrial research

  • Inspiring leader within one or more fields of expertise/domain

  • Passion for in industrial research, bringing innovations to market and experience in driving multidisciplinary international teams

  • Demonstrated leadership in Intellectual Property-generation and protection

  • Strong partner management, influencing and communication skills
