In this role, you have the opportunity to
Define, structure, and execute research activities in Ultrasound Imaging for Precision Diagnosis and Image-Guided Interventions. This position is located in the Philips Research North America Innovation Lab in Cambridge, MA.
You are responsible for
Working in a multidisciplinary cross-functional team
Creating new imaging algorithms to improve ultrasound image quality, frame rate, and overall performance, and provide more quantitative information to the user for definitive diagnosis
Interacting with clinicians to understand and address unmet needs
Developing novel product concepts, designing and constructing experimental prototypes, and experimental validation of concepts
Creating intellectual property, writing technical reports, publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts and submitting grant proposals to public funding agencies
Working with other Philips divisions to drive “productization” of these ideas
Interacting with other experts in the field to ensure Philips is providing leading-edge solutions for innovation and transformation

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Ph.D. is required (Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent)
3+ years of experience in medical ultrasound research with applicable clinical relevance
Candidates with experience in some of the following areas: acoustics, beamforming, signal processing, core imaging modalities, quantitative ultrasound, ultrasound elastography, commercial ultrasound imaging systems, ultrasound transducers
Proven skills in real-time signal processing techniques and a solid understanding of the ultrasound imaging chain
Experience with algorithm design and implementation (beamforming, quantitative ultrasound, image processing, and analysis)
Experience with testing and preparing systems for pre-clinical and clinical trials
Strong software skills (MATLAB, C/C++, C#, LabView, Python, R)
Clinical experience, including knowledge of human anatomy and physiology (strong plus)
Machine Learning / Deep Learning experience (a plus)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clinical partners as well as a number of Philips sites worldwide
