Software Systems V&V, Senior

The Software Systems V&V, Senior will be a part of the Systems Engineering group and is responsible for conducting SW V&V activities as an active member of project teams designing and developing medical devices and software. This position collaborates closely with Engineers, Architects, and Test in the Ventilation business within Hospital and Respiratory Care (HRC) to develop and commercialize Class 2 medical devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and verifying software product requirements and designs, and testing the products at various levels to ensure that the products meet the requirements and intended use.The position reports to the Systems V&V Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes product and sub-system requirements including verifying medical device designs.

  • Performs software verification and validation (manual & automation).

  • Defines, documents, and continuously improves SW V&V testing including conducting peer reviews and maintaining traceability to requirements.

  • Collaborates with design engineers, marketing, usability and clinical and seeks design inputs to effectively validate tasks.

  • Participates in reviews of requirements, design documents, and test related artifacts.

  • Colloborates, coaches, and works with other engineers, technicians and interns to proactively own and drive process improvements.

  • Writes detailed test procedures that evaluates medical devices and systems against documented software requirements.

  • Maintains and controls test execution records using good lab practices leading to development of test reports.

You are a part of

The Systems Engineering team drives the systems elements of R&D development projects including systems requirement definition and management, architectural definition, control/software/interface product specification and simulation, build integration, system testing, software validation and qualification to meet product level requirements.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • BS in relevant field including Computer Science, Electrical Engg. or equivalent.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience successfully verifying and validating complex medical devices (hardware, software, consumables) products.

  • Solid understanding of SW Verification and Validation test plan/protocols, executing V&V activities, generating and analyzing test reports.

  • Understanding of global medical device regulatory environments (ISO 14971, 62304 etc.) and clearance processes.

  • Hands on experience (technical) in medical device ventilation is a plus.

  • Proficiency in using typical lab equipment (e.g. DAQs, pressure, flow sensors, oscilloscopes, signal generators, voltmeters, etc.) required.

  • Experience with requirements management, configuration management, issue tracking tools, etc. required. Understanding of Intended Use Validation is a must.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of pneumatics , controllers and medical systems.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of multi-component electrical devices, PC interfaces, communication protocols.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of software development process, source code control, version control, high and low level programming languages.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
