In this role, you have the opportunity to

Strongly influence product cost, design, quality, and delivery, as part of the Procurement function within the Sleep and Respiratory Care (SRC) business. In this role you have in-depth understanding of the “End-to-End” product context, and will be responsible for delivering on Business Procurement strategies, including the utilization of Design-for-Excellence specifically for New Product Development within our Respiratory Drug Delivery business.

You are responsible for

  • Supporting product launches at optimal cost-of-goods sold (COGs), resulting in a competitive cost with strong margins, a high level of quality, and an end result of gaining share in the marketplace.

  • Assisting business segments in meeting cost targets (e.g., through Design for Excellence / Value Engineering activities).

  • Managing expectations of Sleep & Respiratory Care (SRC) cross-functional team members and suppliers.

  • Developing a supply base that supports business needs.

  • Interaction with all levels of personnel within Philips and supplier organizations.

  • Supporting price negotiations with opportunities to drive short and long term cost reduction improvement.

  • Navigating through varying levels of business complexities.

  • Independently defining quantitative goals for personal and professional development that support the SRC Procurement Engineering Mission.

You are a part of

The SRC Procurement Engineering team in support of the product commercialization process as well as sustaining manufacturing activities. Supported functions include: Research, Engineering, Global Product Marketing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Assurance, and Purchasing teams. This person will drive compliant purchasing and supplier management controls within the business. This person will leverage the SRC and Philips supply bases to drive product innovation and cultivate an environment of engagement and improvement.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Existing knowledge of procurement processes and sourcing methodologies

  • Ideally a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science or relevant disciplines

  • Demonstrable experience gained within a similar role

  • Proven track record in successfully collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams in a global environment with minimal supervision (Designers, Engineers, Marketing, Quality & Regulatory, Supplier Quality and Purchasing).

  • High level of proficiency in technical, manufacturing, and business disciplines; specific areas of expertise include: quote analytics, tooling/molding, applying statistical methods (e.g. Six Sigma), process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), DFM / FMEA, Contracting, Sourcing, Negotiating, Supply Chain Analysis.

  • Experience in researching new industry technologies, to deliver improved product solutions and reducing costs.

  • Strong Project Management skillset including experience leading multiple cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge leader regarding costing tools (e.g., Should Cost Models, Total Cost of Ownership, Net Present Value, etc.)

  • Experience with assembly, injection molding, and/or electro-mechanical operations is preferred.
