Philips Commodity Manager - Logistics in Eindhoven, Netherlands


Your challenge

You will drive logistic (transportation and warehousing) procurement projects with the aim to optimize total cost of ownership and create agile and scalable supply chains. You will enable the execution of growth initiatives through sourcing of logistic modalities (road, air, parcel, and ocean) for businesses and markets. You will define commodity and sourcing strategies aligned with business sector programs and requirements. You will be part of negotiation teams, implementation projects and manage commercial relationships with suppliers.

Your responsibilities

As a logistics Commodity Manager you:

  • Define strategic sourcing strategies aligned with business requirements, execute strategic tender processes, lead negotiations, facilitate the decision making process, and ensure commercial gatekeeping during implementation;

  • Support development of business cases, realize and track cost savings;

  • Optimize the supply base on the basis of total cost of ownership and develop sustainable supplier relationships;

  • Manage the business review process with suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance and the future business needs of the sectors are aligned;

  • Pro-actively support the logistics procurement commodity strategies;

  • Align with sector supply chain management to ensure successful definition and execution of commodity strategies;

  • Ensure effective relationship/stakeholder management towards sectors/business/markets. Actively support with supply market & process knowledge and expertise in the area of logistics procurement.

Your Team

You will be part of a global team of enthusiastic logistics and procurement professionals within Philips Procurement (Indirect Material & Services, Forwarding & Distribution), responsible for the sourcing of logistics services for all Philips sectors, to provide businesses and markets with a competitive advantage and drive value. You will report directly into the Commodity Cluster Leader. You will have close interaction with management of the supply chain and commercial operations across the different Philips markets and businesses as well as with logistics service providers.

We are looking for

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration with at least 3-5 years relevant working experience;

  • Experience in Logistics or Supply Chain is required;

  • Experience in Procurement or a Sales related position is required;

  • Experience within or working with a large international company is required;

  • Change driven, taking initiative;

  • Experience in strategic warehousing or transportation management is considered relevant;

  • Analytical, conceptual thinker, pragmatic, strong interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit, with focus on getting things done;

  • Clear and effective networker and communicator at different levels in- and outside the organization;

  • Leadership qualities to lead project teams;

  • Travel can be required for the position;

  • Strong English skills, other languages are preferred.
