Philips Design Director - Global Head of Design Language Systems in Eindhoven, Netherlands

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Guide the next phase of the development of the Philips Design Language System across the global portfolio of Healthcare Technology products and services.

You are responsible for

  • Leading and deploying subsequent versions of the Philips DLS.

  • Meaningful current processes and developing a future vision for the DLS.

  • Leading a global team and executive partners towards that vision.

  • Being a thought leadership internally and externally for our DLS within a Healthcare context

  • Exemplifying extraordinary design through active involvement (with design and business leadership)

  • Consolidating and codify design excellence for Philips by building a common Philips vision globally for software & user experience more broadly in healthcare.

  • Defining global processes and methodologies, thinking frameworks, and end deliverables for global design teams to use.

  • Together with senior leadership, defining the vision for your competence, future-proof investments, codify the needed skillsets and hiring strategies

  • Implementing further a design excellence process with design leadership: Lead design critiques, mentoring and leadership debates

  • Helping mediate the role of design and leadership within the design community at its various levels.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of meaningful design experience with confirmed experience leading global design teams.

  • Consistent track record in developing and deploying Design Language Systems, in a complex industry context (e.g. Healthcare).

  • You use Design Thinking practices (stakeholder mapping, insights mapping, value proposition, story boarding, design research, prototyping, etc.) for problem solving both creatively and strategically

  • Hands on creative, able to work independently as well as within a greater team from concept to execution

  • Communicate the value of design and brand within the business context, able to handle senior stakeholders

  • Strong technology background, including development platforms (e.g. Java, HTML, etc) and/or relational database experience.

  • Knowledge and ability to understand enterprise level architecture

  • Experience leading Agile methodologies and SCRUM across multiple locations
