Philips Fellow Architect in Eindhoven, Netherlands


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Overlook the all-new Product Platform programs within Product Engineering and assure that the right architectural choices are being made, make trades off between Hardware and Software and the creation of future proof modules and platforms. The new additional role of Product Engineering will be the delivery of selected product modules to drive quality, standardization and alliances in a new Product Platform organization.

In addition, you will also identify and drive new platform initiatives, based on a deep and broad understanding of Philips products.

You are responsible for

  • Defining the scope and challenges with partners and identifying key issues

  • Delivering a consolidated (reference) architecture: creating well-defined building blocks / system options & scenarios

  • choosing the optimal architecture, bringing to bear technology and orchestrate roadmaps as well as establishing control points (IP)

  • Ensuring a solid, up-to-date and usable documentation of the architecture and its implementation by using methods & tools for a structured approach

  • Driving an accepted implementation of architecture, incl. validation and verification

  • Establishing architecture lifecycle management and teaming-up for impact

  • Acting within the entire context of the business, organization, roadmaps, external world, overall ecosystem etc.: seeking for convergence, bringing together prior art and internal and external trends, remaining up-to-date with regard to professional knowledge

  • Collaborating on effective communication/change management strategies for projects/programs as appropriate

  • Guiding and inspiring others in and outside the architect community

You are a part of

The Product Platform organization is a newly founded organization, chartered to deliver on selected product modules to drive quality, standardization and alignments. The team is lean, led by a Program Manager and composed of a Fellow Architect and several Key Account managers.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master's Degree and relevant experience in a leading tech-company with 20 plus years of progressive related work experience, preferably in a senior architect role in a product engineering context, preferably in a healthcare company

  • Proven teamwork, including ability to work effectively across organizational and geographic boundaries, building bridges between teams and creating highly integrated teams

  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing development teams in a global, multi-location matrixed organization

  • Extraordinary Architecture skills based on high quality delivery of solutions that include software and services (on-time, in-scope, in-budget)

  • Excellent communication skills and proven track record for developing high-trust relationships with key customers, including during times of customer escalations

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Multiyear experience covering multiple domains, complex systems (e.g. distributed systems), and multiple technology areas
