As a member of the Research Architecture team, you will:
Drive the software and system architecture for our next generation digital solutions by researching and prototyping innovative technologies to advance our technology roadmap.
Work beyond technical aspects of architecture and are able to define organizational, business and processes regarding architecture.
Work with multiple partners on next-generation cross-category products/services and platforms.
Be expected to provide recommendations into the Research Leadership team on architectural roadmaps, technology strategy and technical recommendations and evaluations.
As a Principal Architect, you are responsible for:
Designing the architecture for deploying future applications using API, Microservices, Event-Driven Architectures and Cloud patterns;
Leading improvement initiatives with regard to technological improvements and performs innovative studies with other specialists;
Collaborate with Research projects on implementation decisions and technology selections up to co-development of the applications;
Building on existing architectures and bringing to bear existing technologies and suppliers by working closely with the other architects;
Employ a system engineering approach to design complete and complex frameworks and systems, at both conceptual and logical level;
Document platform designs. Collaborate with users and other technologists to gather feedback on those designs, and incorporate feedback as appropriate;
Rapidly produce prototype designs that can be market tested and grow into product;
Translate and document complex architectural issues to non-technical staff within the business;
Design Systems Architecture for Cloud-based propositions and data analytics environments;
Advise management on strategic and organization directions from an architecture impact;
Guide/mentor junior team members in the implementation of the solutions; and
Lead and participate in Project Design Reviews.

We are looking for
A top-tier Lead or Principal Architect with working experience in various companies and innovative technology environments, with firsthand exposure to successful digital transformations.
An MSc/PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or another relevant area and +6 years senior working experience in an advanced technology setting;
Experience in designing highly distributed systems for both on-premises and cloud with attention to scalable middleware, persistent data stores and microservice design concepts;
Extensive knowledge of Digital eco systems and cloud. Terminology like SAAS and PAAS is very familiar and comfortable to you;
Experience in OS virtualization and containerization isolation technologies and concepts as “infrastructure as code” in a DevOps setting;
Experience with software design concepts, practices, modern development methodologies such as Agile, Lean, CI/CD and common architectural patterns;
Understanding of healthcare products and services is a preferred;
Experience with data analytics environments is a pre;
Experience in defining and implementing Non-functional Requirements into the core of the applications, such as security, scalability, maintainability and different levels of quality;
Demonstrated experience working in a team environment on medical and/or personal use software;
Ability to work in a collaborative environment, negotiate challenges, explain technical considerations and recommend solutions;
Knows how to balance feature delivery and tech debt amortization while maintaining existing technology and innovation to satisfy business needs;
Keep abreast of technical developments in own field through study of the literature and technical contacts; and
A true “roll up the sleeves and get it done” working approach with proven success as a problem solver. Comfort “working virtually” with teammates and customers around the world.
