In this role you have the opportunity:

To enable the Design organization and to meet its objectives at strategic, tactic and operational levels. To accomplish this, you define and realize the Design resource and supplier performance strategy as a critical business lever.

You will interact with all levels within the organization and represent Philips Design at external partners. Therefore, you need to be adaptable in understanding the needs of different stakeholders and have the ability to quickly become a trusted advisor.

As Resource and Supplier Performance Manager you have a strategic and unique role to optimize and consolidate demand and supply, to improve the performance level of resource management and establish the structure for outsourced design.

Listed responsibilities:

  • Enable the creation and implementation of competence strategies. Apply make-or-buy decision making to ensure best use of internal and external resources

  • Facilitate annual operating plan (AOP) delivery, including recommendations to the Design Board

  • Drive overview and alignment on resource demand and supply needs across the global Design locations

  • Build the supply base and framework to successfully outsource design deliverables, in close alignment with Philips Procurement

  • Represent Philips Design at external parties and continuously improve collaboration and standards to meet business objectives

Your team:

Philips Design established in 1925 is one of the longest-established design organizations in the world. It has studios across the globe – in Amsterdam, Bangalore, Cambridge (US), Eindhoven, Seattle, Shanghai and Singapore – and a creative force of 350 professionals. In addition to more conventional design-related skills, the team includes disciplines as diverse as psychology, cultural sociology, anthropology, and trend research. We strive to understand people’s latent “needs” as well as their “wants,” and then identify differentiated and unique propositions. The quality of Philips Design’s creative work is reflected in the many design awards received every year for concepts and solution in the personal health and health systems domain in hardware, software and services.

You will report to the global Support Office lead.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g. economics, project management, communications)

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier and/or resource management related functions

  • A passion for performance management and continuous improvement

  • Candidates are required to have a strong affinity or interest in design, to be able to facilitate better decision making in creating great products and solutions

  • Strong networking and connector skills and ability to work with different levels in the organization

  • Strong leadership skills to drive change and challenge the organization. Capable of managing complexity.

  • Performance management and operational excellence (LEAN)

  • Supplier management / strategic procurement

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Collaborative, open and approachable profile. Energetic, self-motivated and with an organizer mindset.
