In this role, you have the opportunity to
apply the newest AI techniques to shape and contribute to state of the art inventions in the field of health and well-being. Artificial Intelligence, Reinforcement Learning, Machine Learning and Cloud computing are corner stones of our prototypes. As a senior AI Engineer, we expect you to shape and give guidance in applying broad spectrum AI techniques to high-speed prototyping.
You are responsible for
Determining which AI techniques are a good fit for a prototyping project;
Shaping and prototyping new approaches, developing new algorithms, applying broad spectrum AI techniques such as Reinforcement Learning, Search and Optimization techniques, Machine Learning (supervised and unsupervised) and Deep Learning;
Setting up, running and analyzing experiments;
Improving metrics, feedback systems and AI techniques;
Distilling vague product input into concrete problem definitions;
Staying current on technology trends and scientific development;
Contributing to (AI/ML-) technology roadmaps and other strategic related activities;
Connecting to the AI/ML community and academic field to exchange knowledge;
Inspiring your team members to get the job done.
You are a part of
The Software Concepts department within Philips Research. In this department, we build state of the art prototypes using the latest software technologies and research. Our prototypes are used in all healthcare businesses. At the end of the day, we try to touch and improve lives of 3 billion people. Our department is the maintainer and key driver in the Philips Open Source Software community. The department is trying to work with variety of subject matter experts and consists of 80+ professionals. These professionals have state of the art knowledge and are specialized in the field of next generation user interfacing, intelligent agents, distributed, decentralized systems or software science.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Relevant AI knowledge gained via formal education and/or in combination with industrial experience;
Expertise in more than one area of AI, such as reinforcement learning, search and optimization, artificial general intelligence, supervised or unsupervised machine learning, NLP, probabilistic modelling, computer vision, etc.;
Demonstrable software craftsmanship and professional experience in software development;
Demonstrable hands-on experience in at least one programming language such as Java, Scala, Python;
Hands on experience with AI frameworks (Keras/Tensorflow, PyTorch, etc.);
Deep knowledge and hands on cloud experience in relation to AI (e.g. AWS SageMaker, Google AutoML, etc.)
Ability to explain, communicate and influence broad audience (from highly technical to managerial) subjects like machine learning concepts, system architecture and trial results;
Experience in mentoring junior AI engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective;
Proven abilities to converge initial questions into concrete scientific target and solution proposals.
