represent Sensor and RF Electronics in the product development in core-teams to deliver a multi-disciplinary innovation proposition. As a Senior Architect you embrace the challenge to define complex electronic mixed analog/digital/RF circuits and systems and integration with other disciplines to successfully realize digital innovations encompassing the cloud, portable devices, and all devices in-between the major components of a system.

You are responsible for

  • Defining scope and translating customer wishes into clear requirements

  • Delivering a consolidated Architecture, and decompose it into easy to maintain modules or components

  • Design, implementation of complex sensor and RF electronics systems and the integration with other disciplines such as (embedded) Software, Mechanics and Optics

  • Quality, reliability and standards that apply to complex electronic medical systems

  • Communication of technical progress towards customers, management and the project team

  • Building a strong network in, and around the organization, to promote departmental competences and skills

  • Definition of necessary competences and team composition to fulfil an assignment

  • Operational management of designers on the technical areas

  • Support creation of project plans in consultation with customers and other stakeholders, ensuring requirements and deliverables definition

  • Ability to think out of the box when conventional processes or solutions cannot be applied or will not work anymore

  • Coaching junior team members

You are a part of

The Electronics Department is part of Philips Innovation Services in Eindhoven. This department has become an integral part and differentiator of almost all Philips products and services, delivering world-class hardware platforms, such as analog, mixed signal and RF designs, medical devices and connectivity modules.

You will work in a team of about 100 (senior) electronic hardware and software designers and architects and report to the group leader of the Sensors and RF group. We work in an open-innovation mindset, maintaining operational contact to key component suppliers for applying latest innovations and technologies in our designs. Projects we have worked on vary from an IPL (Intense Pulse Light) device for hair removal to a connected toothbrush to large hospital equipment, such as a complex CT-scanner.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master or Bachelor Degree in Electronic Engineering

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in development of Sensor and RF based Electronic Products

  • At least 5 years demonstrable focus on (system) architecture

  • Experience with working in multidisciplinary teams, including multi-site development

  • Interest in connected products, in particular in complex systems, digital, embedded software and connectivity

  • Strong background with innovation development projects and feeling comfortable with managing the funnel from relatively vague requirements to well defined project with committed stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer centric attitude combined with a problem solving and pragmatic attitude

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
