Philips Software and Service Engineer – SCIL Nanoimprint Solutions in Eindhoven, Netherlands


In this role you have the opportunity to

Work for Philips new Venture SCIL (Nanoimprinting Solutions). This venture delivers equipment, consumables and processes for the creation of nano structures on wafers. This cutting edge technology enable manufacturers of LEDs, lasers, optical components, solar cells, bio-sensors and many others to increase performance and lower end-product costs.

You are the one responsible for all software related aspects of the SCIL equipment. Your work has a direct impact on the overall success of SCIL.

You are responsible for

Development of machine control software (mechatronics) as well as service of SCIL imprint tools. You will lead the development and maintenance of the software (Beckhoff) of the SCIL equipment. Next to that, you will play an important role in start-up and commissioning of new equipment at customers as well as problem solving/fixing at customers.

We are looking for someone who can handles all aspects of machine control. Which typically is a combination of software, electronics and mechanics (mechatronics).

You are technical by nature, with strong customer focus, and you work closely together with the SCIL team to maximize customer satisfaction.

This all while balancing schedule, cost, quality, requirements and keeping abreast of developments in software engineering tools and processes as well as technical domain.

The Software and Service Engineer is an ambassador of SCIL ensuring that all customers are satisfied.

Key responsibilities defined:

  • Development of automation software (Beckhoff);

  • User interface development;

  • Hardware oriented programming;

  • Development of Motion Control algorithms;

  • Formulate the software project plan, in consultation with the Project Manager and other parties concerned on base of the requirements;

  • Executes software projects to the project plan, to fix problems, or planned service activities;

  • Testing and commissioning of software at SCIL and at customer world wide;

  • Focuses on First Time Right ensuring there is a clear action plan and diagnosis in case of problems;

  • Handles complaints & escalations to ensure accurate and timely analysis, registration and action.

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and assembling partners inside and outside Philips;

  • Reports on project performance and progress information to the Project Manager and project members;

  • Ensuring there is an effective documentation and archiving of the software and the associated knowledge.

An exciting start-up organization within Philips. SCIL Nanoimprint solutions is a technology venture of Philips IP&S that develops and deliver solutions for high volume nanoimprinting on large wafers. Based on years of R&D in Substrate Conformal Imprint Lithography (SCIL) our solutions enable manufacturers of LEDs, lasers, optical components, solar cells, bio-sensors and many others to increase performance and lower end-product costs. We provide to our customers:

  • Tooling and processes for small series and high volume production

  • Consumables (stamp and imprint material)

  • Dedicated processes for specific customer requirements

The current team consists of 7 people and is working closely with Philips Innovation Services and several industrial partners like VDL-ETG.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor degree in control software, electrical or industrial automation;

  • 5 to 10 years experience in multi-disciplinary projects (within the high-tech industry);

  • Strong technical skills;

  • Experience with working in multidisciplinary teams;

  • Affinity with innovative development projects and comfortable with dealing with projects with relatively vague requirements to well defined project;

  • Team player with excellent communication skills and a customer centric attitude

  • Feel challenged working with uncertainty in a fast paced start-up environment.
