In this role, you have the opportunity to
With general supervision, designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for RF coils and related electronic equipment and other hardware systems.
You are responsible for
Formulate initial design approach and defend proposed designs in a design review process.
Model proposed designs using various software tools, including NEC, PSPICE, Fast Henry, or internally developed modeling tools.
Build clinical prototypes and prove feasibility, functionality and image superiority over competitive coils, ensuring customer feedback is recorded and incorporated into the design and feasibly executed.
Work with mechanical engineering to ensure an adequate mechanical housing is created.
Assist in documenting the development of the project.
Assist in gathering FDA data using the beta versions when first tested and assist in FDA submission technical requirements.
Generate failure modes and effects analysis to complete a set of engineering drawings as per company guidelines, manufacturing instructions, a product follower sheet with QA procedures and technical input to the operator’s manual.
Assist the engineering department in problem-solving related to electrical engineering matters.
Promote, educate and train proper engineering and scientific practice throughout the department.
Select components and/or equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
Review vendor capability to support product development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Knowledge of electrical engineering, particularly E&M and analog electronics design
Skill in troubleshooting and innovatively solving relatively complex electrical design problems.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
Understanding of engineering methodology and processes required for robust prototyping
Manual dexterity with hands and tools used in assembly operations preferred.
Ability to use measurement and testing devices (oscilloscopes, network analyzers)
Ability to use computer software such as ALTIUM and MATLAB to simulate, design and evaluate devices.
Ability to write project related documentation, reports and presentations.
Knowledge of ERP (Oracle, SAP, etc) and PLM software (Agile, Windchill, etc) expected
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Word and Excel or Access required.
Basic understanding of project management (timelines, costs, requirements, resources).
Knowledge and experience in the field of MRI preferred.
BA/BS in electrical or biomedical engineering or electronics. Master’s degree in similar fields with concentration in RF electronics highly preferred.
Excellent familiarity with simulation software like PSPICE and some field plotting simulators.
Knowledge in RF radiation, microwave and/or antennas or analog electronics is required.
10 or more years of experience in related fields.
